if a confused, npo patient is going to climb out of bed and drink that yellow stuff in the bottle at his roommate's bedside (yes, that bottle), it will happen just as his doctor makes rounds in the morning.
and if you happen to get the giggles as you're trying to chart said event, it will turn out that the doctor in question has absolutely no sense of humor!
Yes.
Oh, and the hoops we had to go through to be able to have an accessible plunger. Maintenance had it locked up at night as if it were a golden sabre.
Unfortunately, nights at our place mean you do everything. Once we had a burst pipe on one of the coldest nights of the year. Guess who mopped up the mess? Nursing. Guess who came in an hour later and muttered "Oh well, you cleaned it up OK. We thought summthin' might freeze up tonight" Maintenance.

If a patient's toilet is going to overflow and make a mess that runs down the hall, it will only happen in the middle of the night shift when there's nobody to help you clean up?
