ERS Filed on me?

Hi, guys, I had an email from my manager this last week requesting a meeting with me in regards to a patient I took care of 10 days ago. I've been working for nearly a year at this hospital and this is the first issue that has come up. The staff and all my patients love me. But apparently there was an Error Report filed against me. I know the patient that I got reported on, but I do not know the context of the ERS. My manager also told me that I could have a union steward with me, but this scares me even more. I don't know what I did wrong. How do I handle this? I have a meeting this morning with my manager and I want to cry. My manager is not known for being the most understanding at all. Ex: she does not talk to you in person if she has a problem, she insteads emails you.

Call your Union Rep like yesterday!!!! No seriously, call them.

I would involve your union steward of your manager is suggesting it. Then you have an extra witness to whatever transpires. All you can do at this point is to take a deep breath, go into the meeting as confident as possible but not defensive and figure out what happened. Id hazard all of us have made mistakes which resulted in incident reports and most of us feel the same way as you do when you realize you have made a mistake. It has nothing to do with being liked by coworkers, just the fact that we are humans who are imperfect. Best of luck

don't even dare tell me you went to that meeting without union rep....

You have paid in advance for union support, use it.

Never let them see you cry... you will automatically lose the battle. When the issue is laid out, do not sign ANYTHING until discussed afterward with your union rep.

Let us know.

I second on calling the union! You can delay the meeting until you have time to talk to them. Hopefully its something minor. I learned to keep all my report sheets after being scapegoated for something someone else didnt do. Good luck, be strong, and at least your manager told you about the meeting in advance. Many blindside you while you're working.
