Hello, fellow nurses!
The other day, I was discussing "ER" with a fellow group of nurses, and most said that they do not watch any medical shows. Most stated that they get enough of it at work. And they also state that most of thes shows are not medical based. In fact, one LVN, stated that "General Hospital" was close enough for her. So, when you come from the job, and peel off the scrubs and clogs, do you kick back with Carter and crew or TLC's medical shows?
old-master has spoken...
I aboslutely LOVE ER! I am cable-less right now so I miss all the TLC show, watched or taped them all. Direct TV will be set up soon and I can't wait to get a peak at the Discovery Health Channel.

By the way does any one remember another show called ER from the eighties? It was a comedy with Elliot Gould and I believe George Clooney (YUM!:wink2: )? OR am I just dreaming?????
Gotta Plow,
Srubs is on!!!!
i remember that er show. it didnt last too long ..i liked it.. wasnt much of an er tho was it? more like a little clinic , and oh yes george was on that one.
i watched scrubs tonight and was sooooo disappointed. cant say i really liked it all that much and i couldnt get over the four members of st elsewhere. first of all luther was a PA, not a doc and didnt elliot DIE? i do believe so. plus...i am SURE 4 docs...SURGEONS yet would all be in the same room like that. especially dr craig.
who didnt have a crush on gage from emergency? lol
at first i HATED trapper john MD. when i started watching it in reruns i liked it much better.
anyone remember medical center?
oh was i hooked on that one.
"Emergency" got me hooked on firemen - my first crush - Randolph Mantooth. While my sister had her side of the room plastered with Michael Jackson & Donny Osmond, I had Randolph Mantooth posters. Then he disappeared & I thought I had imagined him...... until he suddenly turned up on a soap opera many years later. "Julia" sparked the interest in me from childhood in being a nurse. I wanted to be just like her.
Never liked Medical Center - Dr Gannon was just too perfect. But Marcus Welby's partner Dr. Steve Kiley.......mmmmmmm!
The guy in the parking lot - Trapper John in civilian life after M*A*S*H - aka Pernell Roberts - was also the eldest son on Bonanza - much better to look at than Little Joe! Theres a photo of him as Trapper John too on the Pernell Bio page at:
I love EMERGENCY just to watch Dixie Mcall, RN! I have been known around these parts (my house) to scream obsceneties at the doctors treatment of nurses on ER. I enjoy it to a point, but like others here, get tired of the same doctors sad lives soap operaishness thing. Ever since Julianna Margoles (Nurse Hathaway) and George Clooney left...hasn't been quite the same.
My husband however LOVES that a-hole doctor, the bald cheif of staff surgeon guy who always insults everyon...
yes he was a hottie on emergency...but i think he was even hotter on loving which turned into the city before it was cancelled. i love middle-aged men with "a touch of gray".
wasn't marcus welby's partner dr. steve kiley portrayed by james brolen(sp?)...again, he was a hottie doing the show but he's so distinguished now...just ask barbara, his wife....heehee :wink2:
No way, no how. They just are not accurate enough. I think their medical consultants must go on vacation a lot-they seem not to get even the basics right!
Before I was a nurse, I liked St. Elsewhere, and LOVED M.A.S.H.
Of course, I always wanted to be a military nurse.
What tore it for me was Rescue 911. I used to nearly spazz trying to watch it, there were so many errors!
Now I like Forensic Files, and similar shows.
