Do I need to report to BON?

Hey guys!

I have a question about reporting loss of nursing employment.

I was essentially asked to resign from my last job. Officially, I resigned and was not fired. Do I need to report this to the board of nursing (I live in Nebraska). The reason I was asked to resign had nothing to do with patient safety or anything that would be considered reportable. Please help!

If not considered a reportable condition, why report it? But reportable is dependent upon what you think is reportable vs what your state thinks is reportable.

Nurses resign from positions every single day. Why would you think you would need to self report your change of employment to the BON?

Can you please elaborate a bit...why were you asked to resign?

If you think you need to report it because it's a "loss of employment," then, no, no, of course you don't have to involve the BON.

If it's reportable, have no worries- your fomer employee will do that for you....

AFAIK, you don't need to report a resignation if it wasn't for a reportable reason. And as someone pointed it out, if it was for a reportable reason, your employer would be reporting you for you.

However, whatever the Nebraska BON thinks trumps what I think. I would look on their website or ask anonymously via e-mail and see what they have to say.

Isn't that info available on the BON website? I've never heard of any BON needing to know about one's employment history. Sounds strange to me.

Some state BONs require all involuntary terminations of employment (a.k.a. 'firings') to be reported to them.
