Annoyances

I thought this was too precious to not pass on:

"Where God wants me to be......"

I happened to call a man on business that I didn't know and have not, nor will ever, talk to again. But this day, he felt like talking. He was head of security of a company that had invited the remaining members of a company who had been decimated by the attack on the Twin Towers to share their office space. With his voice full of awe he told me stories of why these people were alive and their counterparts were dead and all the stories were just little things.

As you might know, the head of one company got in late that day because his son started kindergarten. Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts. There were other stories that I hope and pray will someday be gathered and put in a book. The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is

alive today.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to

answer a ringing telephone ... all the little things that annoy me ... I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment.

May God continue to bless us with all those annoying things.

Bagladyrn....I think I'll agree that we disagree on this one. And, I'll agree to disagree. That's the easiest way to end it.:kiss

Audreyfay thanks for the reply. As I said I really didn't post it as argumentative, it's something I really do struggle with and wanted input from others. You are probably right though that it would simply degenerate into flaming, so if others think I should, I'll go back and delete my post. If anyone would truly like to give me their thoughts on this, they are welcome to pm me though so we can avoid unpleasantness. Cheerfuldoer, I'd love to have your thoughts on this as you strike me as one who has her head on straight about a lot of things.

I'm going to interject something here. Please don't take it as argumentative or attempting to negate the positive message others get from this. This is something that has bothered me for a long time about "divine intervention" stories: If I am to accept that "God", "fate", or whatever higher power intervened to save these people, then I would also have to believe that this power chose not to intervene in the fate of several thousand other men and women, in essence condemning them. Just doesn't fit with the concept of a benevolent God to me. Just one of those late night philosophical questions that probably have no answer. I have the same problem with "miracle cure" stories - why this child and not that one?

You're not the only won who struggles with the "God has a purpose for me, so He spared me and killed the rest" philosphy.

It's not appropriate for this thread obviously to get into it. But just wanted to let you know I've strugged with that too.

I believe that there is a reason for everything. Nothing happens by accident or coincidence. We are where we are suppose to be. Whether or not there's is a higher being controlling that or just the order of the universe, that is for everyone to decide for themselves. Ya'll have a wonderful day. :)

AudreyFay, thank you for the post. :)

There is no point in deleting posts. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I also have struggled with some of the issues you speak of. You are not the only one. Some day we will have the answers?

Who are you talking to Audreyfay? Was it me? I wasn't suggesting deleting any posts. I just was suggesting that I was not going to spoil your wonderful thread with a big debate, it's not appropriate.

In my heart Karen Carpenter sings forever.

I agree....I miss her. Such an angel.

Audryfay and everyone else, thank you for sharing.

I too have struggled with this and do not know the answers to WHY. I try to trust that God knows more than I do and has a purpose I may not see for a long time if ever. I know good things have come out of some very tragic events.

Please do not take offense at my opinions and thoughts. I highly respect everyone's opinions and you have all certainly made me think about my reasons for my opinions and beliefs.

Duh....probably would help if I had a little short term memory.

It amazes me that after all these years I still love Karen, always will. I miss her too.

No 3rdShiftGuy - not you - I had said in a previous post that if people found my question offensive I would gladly delete it. Again to all- I was not being insensitive- it was a sincere question and I thought since the subject came up, this would be an appropriate place to ask for input from those with a different outlook. I am sorry if I offended anyone.
