i work in a seventh day adventist hospital and we have been a part of a system of hospitals (not related with seventh day adventist) within the city. We are now in the process of moving out of our "current" system and joining the nation-wide adventist hospital system. Does anyone work at a adventist hospital and what our your opinions? We were told that there are 37 hospital in the united states that are part of the adventist health system. I would appreciate any comments, thanks!

Hello Amy :)

I worked in a Seventh Day Adventist hospital before back in the late 1980's, and loved it! It was just the right work environment for me. The staff and other hospital employees were all so nice, compassionate, understanding, caring, and loving towards one another. The "atmosphere" was so genuinely nice, I still have very fond memories of that hospital. :kiss

It was definitely better than the secular hospital I worked at! Just be prepared for the spiritual emphasis; it is a faith based organization, you know.

Amy, l work at the same hosp. cheerful Renee worked at, and it hasn't changed....yes there is the spiritual emphasis that Karen refers to...however,at this particular hosp, l have found the pple to be the most sincere, kind and sharing not shoving their faith values.......l too liked it much better than the secular hospitals or the CAtholic hospital......good luck......LR

Yes, I should also add that I had always wanted to work at this hospital because of the reputation it had as being a great place to work, and I found that for the most part everyone there was extremely nice and easy to get along with.

I just got a mailer from Washington Adventist! Too bad they are too far away!

I worked at an Adventist Hospital until February of this year, and will go back as soon as my "time is served" here in Michigan.

Ups and downs as with every job, and this is a smaller hospital, but I love working there and can't wait to get back.

There is an emphasis on a more holistic appraoch...physical (including nutrition) mental, spiritual. I appreciate the fact that it is "OK" to pray for and with my patients...though the spiritual side of things is always very subtle, no pressure on employees either way.
