ACLS text

I am just wondering if American Heart Association ACLS text is the same text for any agency that is offering the course. Because I am taking the course and I am so broke and cant afford to buy the book before the class starts. I was gonna buy a cheap ACLS book off craigslist locally but unsure if the agency that i am taking the course from uses the same text.

anyone can answer this question for me would be great. thanks!

Should be the same where ever you take it because its from the AMerican heart association. Just make sure the one your getting off craigs list is the new version for this year as things have changed....for example...its now CAB- Circulation, Airway, breathing, instead of ABC

when I took ACLS I used the copy of "ECG Interpretation Made Incredibly Easy" that I already had. It has all the ACLS algorithms in the back and that was really all I needed for the class. I didn't bother to buy the ACLS book.

thanks. however, the agency want me to take a pre test which is a link located in the book and have that print out to them at the start of class.

I will look for the latest version.. ty..

Many course are now including books in the cost of the class. Check to see if that is true for you. AHA is requiring books for class now.

yeah the book is $35 dollar i think and I dont get pay til after the start date. I dont want to reschedule because i was lucky that they added this extra course this month or else i'll have to wait til end of october to take the course. I am hoping that getting my ACLS will increase my chances of landing my first RN job.

I just took ACLS for the first time this past June and the protocols have changed but the books hadn't caught up yet--ask the agency holding the class if the new books are out yet. Taking the class with an old book can be done, but it's confusing when you go back to the book later and wonder which drug was discontinued.

Go to the website and try the code "compression" to do the pretest. Hope that works for you.

new books are available. Your course director should provide you a book and include it in price of class. Learners should not have to hunt for a book. Be sure you get the one with 2010 guidelines. You will need the link to the test but the course director can provide that without a book. I STRONGLY recommend you have the book. When you take the test you can repeat it and use it as a learning tool. Helps when you do the post test

I do agree that the book is important. I picked mine up this week, but it was an extra cost of $32. There are some videos to watch online but I have always preferred to have a book to hold and use for review. I took the precourse test when I originally registered for the class and didn't print out my results. I didn't do so well anyway;) but it's annoying to have to retake it... hopefully I will do much better. My class is this week and I will be so glad to have it done!:yeah:
