Hi everyone,

I am about to renew my NCLEX license, and I was asked to render 30 hours of continuing education. I have seen a lot of websites offering such, but I do not know w/c is accredited by nursing boards of USA.

Can someone help me with this, or perhaps, provide me with trusted CE websites?

Thanks in advance!

Hmm, I hope you are not needing the 30 CEU's right away. You are supposed to gather them in the 2 years before you renew your RN license. You can get CEU's in a variety of ways, nursing journals, some wil charge you a fee ($10.00) after you read article and take test & submit it with the fee. Most of these are about one CEU. You can go to conferences. Generally you get one CEU for each hour you attend. I have used online sites also but I am NP so many of those are free for NP's. Also, most hospitals provide some CEU's for their staff or the hospital pays for online CEU's to a particular website. Check with your facility education department. Again-Collecting your CEU's is an ongoing process. Good luck!

2009 will be my first time renewing my license, but I have been accruing my continuing education credits during my first years of nursing to avoid the last minute scare. I would find out what is required and either see what your job offers or see if some of the community colleges in your area have some. I hear that most times, infection control is a requirement, and child abuse reporting (at least in my area). I intend to do infection control on line for Beth Israel School of Nursing, since I have attended their seminars and have been pleased with them.

Contact your state board of nursing to determine what qualifies as acceptable continuing education. Each state has unique rules in this area.

Hi, I have a CA license which I maintain although I am back in the UK. I use Western Schools online. I can complete the 30 hours in one fell swoop. And the site will tell you which States their education hours cover. Good luck

CEU is an obsolete term. Technically, it means 10 contact hours. Each state has different requirements. In my state nursing education is counted towards the 20 contact hours required. So you really don't need anything till the second renewal. May not be true in your state.

You do not renew an NCLEX license. There is no such thing. NCLEX is the name of the exam one takes to become licensed.

Thanks for your replies. Actually the state is Saipan and I received a mail stating that they need me to renew my license for NCLEX. I tried calling their hotline for assistance, but it is always VM and/or directing to an invalid telephone.

Anyways, I appreciate your help guys. Thanks a lot!

@UKPedsRN

I'll try Western Schools. Thanks
