I have been offered a med/surg position at a local hospital. (I'm an RN ) Passing a "Fit for duty" test is required. Does anyone know what that involves? I'm no spring chicken! I have been working in home health but really want to pass this test and return to acute care nursing.

Don't worry, they will probably just see if you can lift your arms over your head. Not kidding! It isn't an endurance thing, that's for sure!

Depends on the facility.

Sometimes.. all I need is a pulse.

Sometimes. if my blood pressure is a little to high, I need to come back and start the process over.

They will usually work with you, make sure you are rested.. and smile, smile..smile.

General health assessment to determine if you are generally healthy & physically able to perform your duties. Usually just a general health screen

Don't sweat it.
