hi i'm new to this so be kindi would like to know what general education classes are required for an associates degree in the stae of pa i know getting an associates degree takes two yrs. but does that include your gen ed classes and what gen ed classes do you need?????
thanks:confused:
Yes, the Associates is generally set up to be completed in 2 years, and that includes the gen ed. But look at the catalogs for the schools you are interested in. Some have a 3-year associate degree for RN that is more total credits. The state doesn't set the course content. The college does.
This list http://www.sharonregional.com/pdfs/required-college-courses_new.pdf shows 8 courses that are usually required. Statistics might be another. Soc 101 might be, too. Some have two Englishes: writing and speech. Some throw in a nursing math class. It all depends on the school's views. Look at the college catalogs and see what courses are needed.
My experience is that the ADN programs are two years long AFTER pre-reqs. My ADN was as follows:
English 1
Lifespan - Growth and Development
Algebra
A&P 1 + lab
A&P 2 + lab
Microbiology + lab
Microcomputer applications
Speech
Gen Biology
Medical Terminology
Introduction to Nursing
Psychology
Humanities Elective
All of that was BEFORE the 2 year Nursing program.
