Hello GCU summer applicants!
I figured someone else would have started a thread by now, but since they haven't I figured I would since the deadline is approaching in less than 2 weeks! I just wanted to know how everyone's application experience is going so far? Hopefully we can answer each others questions and this thread can serve as a place to share experiences especially while waiting for decisions.
I have my background check completed, my fingerprinting is in process, and I'm taking the HESI this week. I am super nervous!
I can't wait to hear from any of you who are applying! Don't be shy :) and good luck everyone!
You may wish to check out Brookline College. It's in Phoenix and has a BSN program that you can start whether you already have a Bachelors or not. I don't think they have a waiting list; at least they haven't in the past. The school also seems to have good report with the hospitals in Phoenix, where we do our clinicals, which really helps when looking for work after passing the NCLEX.
@joelle71,
I am so so sorry that you moved down here to have this happen to you and your family. As we have all said, what GCU did to us was terrible! But I cannot imagine being in your shoes.
I have heard nothing but great things about the CEP program so that is an excellent option. Also, there are a couple options if you have a bachelor's degree already.
As for the Fall, there is still a chance. As many of us have touched on, GCU students typically take up spots on the main campus in the traditional campus. It makes sense since they are planning on doing away with the satellite campuses in the Spring. They obviously don't need them for their current students. However, I do think some current students attend the AT Still Campus. That one seems to be quite popular. But there should be spots for transfers at the satellite campuses. It will be more competitive because there will be the summer roll-over. But who knows, it may be even less competitive with all this drama. Students may decided to go elsewhere. There really isn't a waitlist at the Maricopa Community colleges anymore.
Don't lose hope! You will be a nurse!
Does anyone know how I could find out how many applicants usually opt for a specific satellite campus? My adviser just keeps saying "I'm not sure about how many" which totally crushes me, BUT she said that if I did well on the HESI, that would help. SO I am completely unsure about where I stand...
Does anyone know how you find out how many applicants there were for a particular campus?
Isn't Brookline crazy expensive? I worked there for about a week and half in 2013 (it was really unorganized and they didn't know what to have me do so I left) and it was like 60K! Or has it changed? I did hear about it having a great rep with hospitals though. Particularly for RNs wanting to work in the ER like I do.
Im a current student at GCU and they are not loosing their accreditation. They are however in the process of switching from a for profit school to a non-profit. They have been going through a lot of administration changes. Don't give up on GCU and on another note nursing school is a big pain in the BUT no matter were you go. Im down in tucson and the stories are all the same at every school. Keep your head up, the weeding process is never over. At least thats how i feel. I started the 16 month program last fall and I've got 2 semesters left!! Keep pushing future RNS! Getting in is the hardest part.

I found this fabulous thread on Monday after getting THE NEWS. I read through all of your roller coaster experiences with a pounding heart. So first let me just say how sorry I am to ALL of you (and to me). My mom and her new husband moved here from SC on the assumption that I'd be getting in this summer and would help me with my kids while I was in school. So this "problem" has affected not just me but my whole family. I'm really incredibly angry at how unprofessionally GCU has handled this. I can't wait to see what kind of excuses they try to make in the webinar tomorrow.
However…. I hit the ground running on Tuesday checking into all these other programs. I had really just put all my eggs in the GCU basket and had made no other plans (stupid of me!). So now I'm racing around to try to get ready to apply for the CEP @ Chandler-Gilbert. Has anyone gone with the Upper Iowa University or know anything about it? It just seems so random -- but I need to do MATH 142 if I'm going to apply for NAU or ASU CEP.
Still considering GCU if I get in for fall -- but I just don't think any transfer students will probably get in with the massive amount of GCU students that will be applying. I'm hoping for AT Still -- 25 spots doesn't feel very hopeful. And it's a BUNCH more expensive than the CEP program -- so even if I get accepted I'm just not sure...
Maybe I'll see you all at the webinar in the am….
