GCU RN-BSN 2019 Capstone

Nursing Students Online Learning

Hey, all.

I don't know if we have any other folks struggling through the GCU capstone course right now, but what the heck! It seems like the most pointless busy work. I was under the impression from other posts on this forum that we would be writing a substantial (20+ page research paper) but the final submission for the class is a 1,000 - 1,250 word paper plus all sorts of B.S. documentation of the 100 hours that we supposedly completed along with a journal and some stuff that our mentors are supposed to rubber stamp.

I'm on week 4 of 10, praying that I can get through this with my sanity intact. I've definitely had some poorly designed and frustrating classes, but always seem to come out the other side with A's, so I'm hoping to keep this going for the next 6 weeks so I can graduate and say GOODBYE to continued formal education.

How are you doing your clinical hours during this Civid lockdown. . ? Are you being given options to complete without face to face clinical since really we have our RN and don’t Need any clinical hours. Share did everyone get their preceptor ? We’re they lenient in letting you just find a MsSN nurse from your employer.?

I'm having to make it up through research and conversations between my preceptor and me, it's very complicated/confusing and we are all learning it throughout. I just got off the phone with my instructor and we spoke for 45minuts which is included in my hours, so I think we will be OK. These are different times so things won't be the same and we are just adapting to the changes.

My preceptor has had GCU students before, so she's experienced and GCU did not have a problem accepting her. I've heard you can use someone from work, as long as they meet the requirements. I tried to do that, but my place didn't meet them

Hi there. I just started the program this Summer, half-way through the first class at the moment. Can you tell me a little about their spirituality class? Is it a class on Christianity? I'm feeling sort of strange about taking a class on religion for my BSN. Any insight into that class would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Shouldnt be too much of a surprise as I believe Grand Canyon is a catholic school. Yes it is a religious class and I am not a religious person, so just play the game and come up with your thesis statement and go from there,LOL It is what it is! And of course lot of our patients are religious, so it is not a useless class. I treated it like any other class...as I mentioned above, come up with my thesis statement and defend it on the paper....Good luck

Hi there. Can anyone give an example of what they did for their capstone project, and what it was like to do 50 hours of community experience and 50 hours of leadership experience? They emailed me this week, 7 months before the start of my capstone, to get started on the process.... sorta freaked me out.

Any insight would be appreciated, and if you live in NJ perhaps you can help me identify a preceptor? Pleeeeaaaassee....

Thanks so much!

The nursing school I went to was affiliated with the hospital I currently work at, and the school/GCU had an agreement that my nursing school would push their students towards GCU for their BSN, and GCU would accept my hospital as a clinical site

Let's just hope no payola, kickback or $$ was involved in the "agreement to push the students toward GCU"
