I also once thought that hospital nursing was the pinnacle of nursing, and then I started as a visiting nurse. And let me tell you how absolutely fulfilling it is. My job is all about educating patients so they can stay well/independent in their homes and OUT OF THE HOSPITAL, which is so incredibly important for both the patients in particular and the healthcare system in general. I take my job extremely seriously, and I absolutely love it. Like you, I don't work weekends, but I'm also in charge of my own schedule every day, don't have the bullying/attitude/drama so common among hospital nurses, and I get to manage my patients' care, including scheduling their PT, OT, SLT, and MSW consults. It is very gratifying. The beauty of nursing is that there are so many facets and so much one can do. Don't paint yourself into a corner believing there is only one "real" nursing job; it's just not true. You can impact the lives of your patients in so many ways!

Has anyone attended/graduated from Franklin University's MSN program? Curious to know what it was like. I am planning to start next Spring (2021). Thanks for the info in advance.

Hi there. Can anyone give an example of what they did for their capstone project, and what it was like to do 50 hours of community experience and 50 hours of leadership experience? They emailed me this week, 7 months before the start of my capstone, to get started on the process.... sorta freaked me out. Any insight would be appreciated, and if you live in NJ perhaps you can help me identify a preceptor? Pleeeeaaaassee.... Thanks so much!

Hi there. I just started the program this Summer, half-way through the first class at the moment. Can you tell me a little about their spirituality class? Is it a class on Christianity? Which community college is this Sophie? My community college was just denied by the state from offering the BSN, so would like to know which one does offer it. Thanks.

Ocean County Community College in NJ has an entirely online microbiology course that is transferrable to every community college in NJ. However, I was completely shocked when I found out that, aside from tuition, you must BUY a microscope and home lab kit - both adding over $800 to the cost of the course. As they say: buyer beware. I honestly don't think it's worth it, so I'm going to drop the course. But, to each his own.
