GCU RN to BSN capstone course

Good golly, I have gone through GCUs entire program with no difficulty. This capstone course requires a 'mentor' and it is literally taking a ridiculous amount of my time setting up paperwork and documentation they require after going through numerous local contacts with which the school has an 'affiliation' that the facilities know nothing about. Has anybody else had this issue with the capstone course at GCU? I'm about fed up which is sad because it's my last class.

Hello all! I will be starting by Capstone course 1/29/18. I'm very nervous especially after hearing how overwhelming and unorganized it is. To those of you that had a decent experience, can you recommend a good instructor to take?

Hello I feel the same way, does anyone have an example of the ISP (Individual Success Plan)? It will be a great help.

hello MissA87 I am also in my capstone class now and just started this week at GCU. I didn't know if you had any luck with the ISP I am very confused and have been trying to work on it all week and feel like I am submitting it blind.

I am getting ready to start my capstone course and it has been a nightmare. My field advisor has not been able to provide me with much help. I don't understand how having a mentor is a requirement when the school can't even Direct you. I have called several hospitals and they seem to think we need to shadow our mentors. I've explained how we just need feedback on our project. We don't need access to patietns, healthcare or even step foot in their hospital. I start in February, yes next month and I have been trying since November of 2017 to established a place. My employer does not have a contract with GCU therefore I can't do my capstone there. My experience thus far with GCU has been great. I would recommend gcu to many Co workers. Now I am hesitant to do so. I don't wish this night mare on anyone. I think if the hospital has all these requirements for capstone they should be more organized. They need to have point of contacts for the different hospitals that they network with. I mean if they have a contract with GCU the hospital should have a better understanding of what the students need as a mentor and what all is required. I am so over this and so discouraged. This makes me want to quit but I've come this far.

Glad I finished the old Capstone 5 week class. No way I could of completed it living abroad. It sure sounds like they have made it less user-friendly.

Who is your Professor? I'll be finishing up my Capstone class next week, but I'm really worried that I may have to redo the whole thing. I've gone through all my other classes at GCU with no problem, passed all of them with As or high Bs, now with this class I am struggling and the Professor is either super hard-core or the other professors have been super lax. This whole capstone class has been so confusing. I'm kind of at my breaking point with GCU over this Capstone.

yes the teacher had a sample and it helped a lot, each week you will have objectives so put this in that row and for the self assessment check appendix A that's in the ISP document. Hope this helps.
