AZMOMO2, can you tell me something more about TB test...Like, the first time you got injected (like I was yesterday), do you have to go to the office in 48/72 hours time frame so they read the test? And then again, you go after a week to get injected again, and also go within 48 hours so they read the test?

My doc told me yesterday, if my skin does not get red and thick, I do not have to come to the office, only in the case it gets infected. But now I am afraid, they will ask for a date when the test was read.

oh boy... I just had my tb test done for my cna class but it was only a one step. I guess it won't really mean anything and ill need to get another done by my doctor.

Yes, I got mine for my CNA and that did not count.

I had my first injection on a Friday, went to have it read on Monday. Then I went back on Friday and had it read on Monday. They gave me an offical record because they require an offical read of all the dates from the doctors office as offical proof.

Oh by the way they made it sound like we stay on the waitlist and if in the fall we still qualify then we get second option ( after the partner programs ) for the available spots before the new applicants get put in their lottery.

After going through three cycles on the RN waiting list, applying for the Banner program, and countless other "shortcuts", I put in my application at Gateway yesterday for the LPN program... turns out this is somewhat of a lottery also... the two step TB was a shocker to me also... I had not heard of it until this experience.

I considered the LPN-RN route when I intially put in my RN application last year (time stamp Oct 22, 07)... and there was a waitlist for LPN then. (This was at EMCC) If I would have gone on that waitlist, I would have at least been in an LPN program Aug 08. A nursing advisor at on of the CC's told me that although I could get into an LPN program faster, that was "the long route"... I wish I wouldn't have listened to that advice.

Thanks! I will go today for my test to be read even though the PA at the doc's office told me I don't have to come if my skin does not get infected.

Ok so someone explain.....the two step process is just going in a second time to have the skin checked? Ugh...that seems a little redundant! Obviously if you dont have a reaction after the 72 hour period than it's a no brainer. But, this is protocol...I guess!

You have to go 4 times. 2 injections and 2 tests readings. Pain in the ...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I just learned about it yesterday but I understand the two-step TB process to be this:

Step one: TB test done like normal and read 48-72 hrs later

Step two: TB test done 1-3weeks after test one following the same procedure
