OK where to start..

I was accepted into the Maricopa Skill Center Aug 08 program, but due to lack of funding/ lack of being able to work while going there/ horrible administration/ long program with long hours, I decided it might not be the best thing for me.

A friend told me about Gateway CC LPN Fast Track program & I went in today & spoke with someone in Nursing advisement.

She told me August is already full but if I have all the prereqs & certs done (I do) I might get in for the Jan day program.

I want to know from anyone whos going there/is accepted in to the program how long you had to wait after turning in the app. to get into the program?

Also, what is the day class schedule like?

How do you like it?

She said I should have no problem getting right into block 3 if I have all the prereqs done (I do), so if my plan goes right I should have my RN in a couple years!

I just dont want to regret not taking thousands of dollars out in loans to go to MSC in August and then end up waiting a year or two to get into nursing school cause the Fast track program filled up.

Anyways, any info you can give is VERY appreciated!!

Thanks,

Laura

Do you know if they are going to have an evening program in January?

I feel like they are wishy washy with their info on the Gateway LPN program. Everything is maybe, might, could be yada yada yada making it hard to plan around. I had the same thoughts as you about the Skill Center especially about the money and figured I would try Gateway but no one can give me a straight answer. If you weren't really feeling the Skill Center I would say don't go. But know that you are waiting in the wings on Gateway's terms. Good Luck!

Hopefully someone who is/was in this program could help me out a little here- I got into Maricopa Skill Center for the August classes, but dont have the money for it & I honestly dont trust them with getting my loans & stuff right, I just cant stand that administration!

So Ive decided to finish my prereqs for my bachelors this Fall (planning ahead, I know)... and apply to the Gateway Fast Track program for January.

I've been a CNA for a year & I know I could get my application in on the first day if I had to, but does anyone know of anyone that actually applied for this program & got in to the one they applied?

I just REALLY dont want to wait any longer, and I guess I could go to MSC in Jan, but I just would much much rather going to Gateway?

Send some hope this way please!!

If you don't mind me asking, have they not given you any info on your loans yet? Or the info they have given you is a bit shady? I know they lady there is not doing her job and a lot of people are waiting for aid info and classes are starting Aug 8th. It kinda sucks they don't have this info together for students.

Basically they said that my loan did go through, but then the lady in charge of Financial aid said they re did their computer systems & lost me out of the whole system- not even showing i applyed.. So I talk to the guy in charge of the nursing program & all he says is "ya i know who you are, dont worry about it" and I just really really do not trust them about getting this done, and it has to get done for me to be able to just live while going there... Im thinking waiting a few months wont be that bad to wait to go to a school ran by somewhat competent people...

That & that this place is double the price, about 30 hr school weeks (vs about 20 hrs for regular cc) and 13 months (vs the normal 8 months of 2 semesters at a regular cc). I REALLY dont want to wait, but that place was just driving me nuts-

But besides that, has anyone heard of anymore info for the Fast track program ??

Thanks!

Do you or anyone else know when the next program after spring is most likely going to start? I am surprised they are offering two programs in the spring, but I still don't think I can swing either of those right now. Do they typically do a summer start date as well?

No I think it's only fall and spring semester-starts. :( I'm sorry.
