Good evening,
Who all applied for the Lpn program starting this August 2018 at Gaston College?
Yes I chose the daytime cohort and that's what I got. I'm also paying out of pocket which is why I'm not to sure on the pell grants. Surely though you could with this program. I had to register one of my other email address for the residency and mine worked when I did that.
OK I guess I'll register my other email. I just didn't want to miss out on anything because I hardly ever use the other email. Thanks a bunch!
I know what you mean. You're welcome. When is the night cohort orientation? Days is June 21st at 9?
I'm glad you asked that cause I had assumed it was going to be a morning orientation as well...Lol. I went back to look and the evening cohort orientation is at 4pm. She also said that the class and clinical times will be from 4pm-10pm Mon-Fri.
I just registered for Residency Determination request using my other email.
Yes I did receive my email! I got daytime (which is exactly what I requested) Although now I'm interested if the schedule is different than whats listed on their webadvisor since she stated that daytime will be 8-3 mon-fri. I can't wait until orientation next month :)
I'm really hoping pell grants are allowed to be used to pay for this program. I don't see why not, especially since they can be used for trade schools.
Girl me too. Guess we'll gave to wait another month to see if the schedule is different than what she said. I'm just ready to get started and get thisnover with. Are y'all interested in going back to the Lpn to rn program later on?
Surely you could on this program use pell grants because if they didn't let you that would not be be fair
Yes!! I'm definitely planning on doing the LPN to RN bridge program after (if?) I graduate the LPN program. I want to take most of the co-requisites I will need for that program while I'm in the LPN program :) Only the easy ones of course, I dont want to overload myself. NOT sure if i need chemistry for that bridge program, I know I would have for the regular RN program since I never took chem in highschool... I haven't seen anything about needing it though.
IDK why I'm worried the pell grant won't cover this program, it just occurred to me out of the blue.. I guess because its not really a degree? its a diploma or something? If I can't use the Pell Grant for the program, I'm totally screwed. I've been saving money to take a year off of work while i go to school but if I can't use pell grant money for the program, then I'm SOL
I know I'm jumping ahead of myself lol. I don't think we need chemistry for the Lpn to rn. I know we have to have microbiology which we could take online thru Gaston.
Yeah I think it's just a diploma not a degree, which I think is crazy. If worse came to worse you could take out a loan. There has to be something that someone could help you out on through the school so you get it paid for.
Yes girl!! You sound just like me í ½í¸… I've got all my semesters and classes planned out as if I already know im going to pass/accepted í ½í¸‚
Is microbiology required to be taken prior to application due date for LPN to RN? I know it'll help with points, but I noticed that applications are normally due before fall semester is over and I planned on taking microbiology fall 2019 in order to avoid overwhelming myself.
You're right, a loan wouldn't be the worst thing. Especially since it'll only cost about 6 grand. Even if I dont make it through the program its not like I will have to pay off tens of thousands í ½í¸œ
I know girl. We're all just ready to be done and over with it. This year will fly by though because we'll be so busy.
No it's not required before applying. I'd like to have it done though before I apply so I'll probably wait a year or two. We plan on trying for a baby when finished with the LPN school because this girl ain't a spring chicken anymore. Lol. I'm 26 what are all of your ages? You don't have to stay.
Girl you're gonna make it, we're all going to make it!!!

I'm 36, married (newlywed April 2017) with no children...Lol. At age 26 you have plenty of time for kids. Me on the other hand (per my Dr.) I am pushing it, but nursing school comes first for me. My husband and I will likely try a few months before our anticipated LPN graduation date.
