Gaston College Lpn 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Good evening,

Who all applied for the Lpn program starting this August 2018 at Gaston College?

When you hear back from her will you let me know?

Thankfully when I went into the CNA program last year they started requiring vaccinations so I had everything prepared for that portion. I also got CPR certified so I'm basically stuck at HIPPA; OSHA; and the LPN student handbook :/ I got my drug test done before i went to my A&P class yesterday and made an appointment at the health department next Wednesday for my physical. I don't see why either the health department or urgent care would be an issue. It just says that it needs to be completed by a physician, physician assistant or NP. It doesn't say anything about having to be completed your regular physician.

Absolutely, I will let you know what she says cause they have us kind of blind out here with no direction with this particular requirement (OSHA & HIPAA). I noticed a few of the due dates were after 6/21, but I'm a go getter and want to move forward with a few of them with the exception of the flu shot which has to be completed after we begin classes based on the flu season timeframe (September-March).

I too have all my immunizations except for the second part of MMR, which I could have sworn I had...Lol. I currently am CPR certified, but I need American Heart Assoc. with BLS.

She sent me a email today asking if I wanted day or night. I said day time but I will take night if I have too.

I wonder how they will ultimately make that decision to choose who goes to which option. I'm thinking they may do it by points. The higher your points the better chance you will get the option you prefer. Just a guess...lol

Yeah I was thinking they would do it by points too. That's the fair way to do it. What did you pick day or night?

I picked night, but at this point it doesn't matter. Either way I'll stop working my full-time job in August. I still plan to do something part-time just to have some extra money on the side.

They said the highest points get their preference first and whats left over the lowest automatically get

Yeah, that's what I figured. I'm not sure what my exact points were. When I added them before I think I calculated about 9 or 10 soooooo obviously I missed something cause as I've seen in this post some people didn't get in or waitlisted with 10 points. I have 3 transcripts from 3 different schools (also have Bachelor's) so I'm sure I missed one of two things in my count. I'm still waiting for her to call me back, so when she does I will be sure to ask her my exact points.

Yeah it must have been really competitive this year. I had 3 transcripts sent from 3 different schools too. Do y'all know what average we have to maintain in the nursing program is it a 80? Or a 70?

Ahhh. Makes me so nervous. That is a lot.
