Galen-St. Petersburg May 2010

Published

Hi,

Is anyone attending the LPN-RN bridge program starting this May? I am getting ready to turn in my application this week and I'm really looking forward to getting back to school. It's a whole lot of money but I have heard a lot of good things about this program so I am going ahead with it. Anyone have any recent experiences with this school (particularly the RN program)? Were you able to work while attending school? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!:)

Hey Lexuan-

I am a former LPN grad from Galen-St Pete and had a great, overall experience. The program is strict and intense but I learned a ton. They really prepare you well and I had no problems with the boards and took it within weeks of graduation.

Again they are strict and real sticklers for attendance and all policies but just look at it like a job, stay focused, study hard and get it done. It is hard but worth it in the end.

I am going back for my RN this May or August depending on how quickly we can move back into the area and I meet with an advisor next week. I look forward to it, especially since they have all new facilities and am looking forward to getting started. Good luck!!

I would also love to hear from anyone that has experience with their bridge program.

I am so glad that someone else will be going to this school on this site. I applied for the Aug. 2010 program LPN-RN..Can you tell me what is the acceptance procedure is like? I was told that you have to do a one to one interview before you know whether or not you are in the program..what was that like? Also since I am relocating from another state how is the rental housing in that area? what is the pay like in that area? Will appreciate all the information you can provide at this time....

I will see what info I can get for you! I can only imagine how stressful moving AND starting school must be!

I live in Ocala and there are some nurses who are doing the 1 1/2 hour commute to go to this school. It must be a good school. I am thinking about it but I would be doing the commute myself. But if you think about it 15months. I think it would be worth it. right now I can't relocate, because my husband has a steady job and we are going to have to depend on that while I attend school. The schools out here want you to jump through hoops to get it. It is good to know that they are strict on attendance before I make this decision.

Lexuan how did it go this week or did you not get the chance to make it to the school? What is the interview like? Do they tell you at the interview whether or not you are accepted to the program? or do you have to wait awhile before you know? There are some many things rolling around:uhoh3: in my head until I am making myself dizzy:idea:.I was told since I want to do the Aug.2010 start date I have to wait until May for my interview.:heartbeatI hope that everything was successful for you. The move is going to be the hardest because I need a job for proof of income to rent housing, but I can't get the job until I apply for my LPN license since Fl. is not a compact state. Keep me posted plz.

Could you give me some names of the area by the school? Since I am relocating I have no idea about where would be close to the school. Thanks

If you're looking for housing with an easy drive to school, check out Pinellas Park, Largo, Clearwater, Seminole and north-east St Petersburg. These are all in Pinellas county.
