Galen College of Nursing Tampa Accreditation

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello, I am looking into Galen College of Nursing in Tampa and I am wondering if anyone knows if they are ACEN & CCNE accredited. I have heard rumors that they recently received these accreditations but I am wondering the full facts of that.

What does the school's website say? What do the ACEN and/or CCNE websites say? Both have lists of the schools they accredit. If you want to know for sure, I suggest you do the research yourself. Whatever you are told here may be just another rumor, and you have no way of knowing how valid the info may be.

They are currently candidates for the ACEN accreditation for their ADN program. They just had their visit from the council and it went well (we were told). They should have their accreditation "Summer 2016" and it will be retroactive to 01/2016.

At least this is what we (students) were told in an email.

How do you like it there as a student?

My overall opinion: "meh."

I'm doing to hybrid bridge and it was the best option for me as far as flexibility and no wait.

I am in QTR 3 of 6. If you're taking the hybrid, just expect to be teaching yourself with some guidance. If you prefer the classroom or need that kind of learning I wouldn't recommend the online program. My first set of clinicals were pretty unorganized and although I did like our instructor, we basically just shadowed for the 6 shifts and I thought that was kind of a waste.

I would choose Galen again for a bridge program. I would NEVER pay $20k or whatever it is for an LPN degree though! Yikes.
