Hey All,
I aM floored. I just received notice from GA Board of Nursing that they denied the endorsement of my MN RN license because I did not meet clinical practice requirements . When I called the board, they transferred me to a their Legal Nurse Consultant who stated that effective July 1, 2008 GA would no longer endorse RN license from Excelsior College students with no previous RN experience. She suggested that I go to my licensed state and work for a while then try again, but she could not give me a time frame.
Has anyone else experienced this. I thought we should at least have gotten some sort of notice/warning before this type of rule be adopted by the board. I am going to file a motion for reconsideration using an Attorney. Before I entered Excelsiors program I called GA Board to verify acceptance. I had been accepted to a traditional LPN to RN bridge program; I could have been almost finished their too. I am so sad right now. I have been crying for two days. I think I will need to see my doctor for Zoloft.
I have been an LPN for over 13 years doing Med/Surg for at least 10. I work on a hospital unit right now. THIS IS SO UNFAIR!!!:banghead:

no worries, no way it will pass the senate. please contact them again. they may not realize that hb475 directly opposes what they already passed in sb 49. i bet it will die in committee as sb 49 is going to do in the house. if it happens to get through, gov. sonny perdue will not sign it. we are in for another year of fighting.
No worries about HB 475 passing El Duce's committee. I expected it to pass with her cronies. They are not going to go against her, because that would be the democratic way (not the fascist way), and God forbid any of them think for themselves! And, do not expect SB 49 to come out of her committee. She has it tucked firmly under her haunches until she smothers it to death! There is another bill being presented on our behalf, and hopefully, it will NOT be sent to her non-democratic committee, but to another, more reasonable board! (I would be willing to bet she did NOT let any representative of EC be in their meeting!)
Please, I implore everyone, ESPECIALLY those who have received their licenses! We have been blessed (not by the Board, but by a much higher authority), and now we have to stand with those who are still waiting, and with those who will follow us in the future! We have to do everything we can to pay it forward.
Keep writing the Senate, the House of Representatives, the Secretary of State, and the Governor! One author of an anti-EC blog made a statement about how EC grads inundated the state government with letters and phone calls and how she was disturbed by this. WE ARE STILL A FREE COUNTRY AND WE STILL HAVE THE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH!!!! This includes contacting your state government and presenting your case without fear of retribution!! And, a good politician will welcome correspondences from their constituents and listen carefully!!! If you run into one who does not want to hear from you, let us know. My voter registration card, as well as all of yours, work perfectly!!!
(By the way, it is because of the letters of support for us that they had an unscheduled meeting in February...)
Our Governor stands in support of us. He has been very generous with returning correspondences and always lets me know that it is good to hear from us. Some in the Senate and the Secretary of State's office have also been receptive and supportive.
KEEP UP YOUR LETTER WRITING AND YOUR PHONING!!! Remember, NO COMPROMISE!!!! EQUAL RIGHTS FOR EC GRADS!!!
*raises fist high as a sign of solidarity*

hi there,
did you get licensed yet?
here's a copy of my mailing list and letters sent to all the senators and assistants!..
i looked into who sponsored and voted on the bill, sent the approriate letter depending on whether they had sponsored, voted yay, nay, were excused/absent, or were newly voted in after another member exited (ie: one that voted 'no' is not there now!!)
i converted each name to red as a checkoff to keep track as i went.

if bill 475 passed the committe and just that ...right? yes, that's right thank goodness.. but still, it's already gone too far in the opposite direction for my satisfaction
it still has to pass the senate and signed by the governor...correct? yes and we have to write and call to prevent that from happening!!
ok, what about bill 49? is that in the hhs? still in legislation.. "current status 02/18/09 - house second readers"
and will that be voted on as well? eventually- we have to write and call to also make that happen, and to our benefit!!
what happens next? more writing, calling... waiting, checking progress..
ultimate goal: rn license in ga!! don't give up!! :grad:
