FY2014 Navy Nurse Corps Direct Accession

Hi everyone. I am trying to join the Navy Nurse Corps for FY 2014 (Oct. 2013). I know this is a bit early for a thread like this but I plan on beginning my package in January 2013 to allow maximum time to perfect my application kit. I will be graduating with my BSN May 2013 and plan on taking NCLEX shortly after. I am hoping my kit will be triple checked before I submit it to the board. I am in the process of contacting a healthcare recruiter is San Diego right now and hopefully get stuff moving along. I just wanted to post this thread for others that are also planning on applying for FY2014 commissioning. I will be sharing information as the process goes along so you guys can get an idea of timeframe of events. I know I have been on all these similar threads trolling for answers in the hopes of adequate preparation.. Hope to meet some of you with similar goals soon  Kim

Hello All,

I haven't received a call as of yet from my recruiter. I did call him the week prior to the resumption of government services after the shutdown. He did tell me my packet is all ready and I am the only one he has planned for Er nurse out of Las Vegas area. He even told me the 3 med-surg nurses are pending. No word from his office but he did advised that the earliest to have any information of selections is sometime in November. So as of now, I am in the wait game as well.

That is good that you know your package is ready for boards. I am still waiting to figure out if my package is ready for boards, and I have been working on my package for a while.

Hello lovelife,

What exactly are you needing still? Did the recruiter's processor go over your packet one last time? It is important that your packet is ready for the boards now. I applied last year but my packet was not ready until Dec. of last year because of some medical I needed to clear with the Veterans Affairs since I was a prior enlisted corpsman. So anyways my packet was cleared by the processor in Dec. and a week later, my recruiter told me the navy filled all their ER slots for 2013. So here I am now applying again but this time as early as can be which was Oct. 1 but with the shutdown, hopefully I hear something next month.

Yes, my recruiter processor went over my package. But I think they said there is another processor that has to look over my packet. But I guess I will see if it is ready when they have their boards. I thought I had everything completed. I know my medical and credentials were cleared. I don't know what else need to be cleared for boards. I know air force had their boards already in October. I wonder why the Navy didn't have theirs.

I have heard that the military is looking to reduce the number of people in and trying to get in. I hope that doesn't include the medical/nursing field. We are NEEDED worldwide.

I emailed my recruiter and haven't heard anything. Therefore....I wait until......whenever.

It does include the medical/nursing field. While we are needed, we aren't necessarily funded.

vym222,

I am prior corpsman also, how long were u in?

Well....I'm just praying for an answer sooner rather than later. It is a bit frustrating to know that all the other branches had boards except the Navy. I wonder why??????

Hello malenurse,

I was in from 1996 to 2001. Are you applying for a commission?

Oh, ok. I am currently in the reserve but I was active from 2003 to 2010. My package is with the recruiter.

I have also submitted my package but have not heard anything from my recruiter since Aug 5. I am starting to get discouraged as well. I am just hoping it will turn around. I have been emailing my recruiter and even texted her and no answer. If any of you have any updates, please share as I will do the same. Going for gen nursing, have 1 year experience post BSN. Thanks.

I think the recruiters are ignoring all of us being that they have no information. Does anyone know how the other branches were able to make selections and not the Navy???? Just wondering. LoL. Stay positive and stay busy....LoL.
