Future TEAS-V test takers.

So, I just finished my Teas-V and thought I would share some of the things I felt were important and how you can focus your studies towards every part of the subjects. I use the ATI and I would say invest in that book and also take the online assessment both A and B it will help..invest money in these product so you can see what the test is like and if you did bad on the online assessment it mean nothing just don't be disappointed because it was meant to be hard!! don't give up on studying because of the online assessment...also keep in mind why you are taking the test? the answer i hope will be to do good and pass it for whatever reason!!.. I WILL NOT GIVE QUESTIONS BUT I WILL COVER EVERYTHING THAT YOU WILL SEE ON THE TEST.

Reading- I would say keep practicing and let me tell you the passages are big and I had a hard time completing the this portion as I'm a slow reader. One of the advise I would give and found to be useful is---READ ALL THE QUESTION BEFORE YOU READ THE PASSAGE!!it worked for me (in some parts), but keep practicing SOME OF THE TOPIC TO CONCENTRATE: LOGICAL CONCLUSION, MAIN IDEAS, SUPPORTING DETAIL,OPINION, LABELS-INCLUDES ALL THE TYPES COVERED IN THE ATI BOOK..REALLY MASTER IT AND BE QUICK ..use online, get GED book or something that will help to improve your score. This section is 28%.

Math- It is dead on from the ATI book so I would go through the practice over and over again and I know the book lack more practice I would say go online type in the topic on google you will find tons of work to practice or understand the concept and really master the word problems you will see that a lot on the test. My test had multiplication, additions in form of word problems, Roman numbers( going back to Arabic numerals), DATA HOW TO TELL WHAT GRAPH TO USE AND MEASUREMENT( YOU DON'T HAVE TO MEMORIZE THE CONVERSION IT IS GIVEN), FORM EQUATION FROM WORD PROBLEM, AND INEQUALITY AND FEW ALGEBRAIC.. seriously know this stuff you will see these.

Science: ALL I CAN SAY JUST LEARN THE TOPIC GIVEN IN ATI IN AND OUT. GO TO KHAN.COM OR JUST GOOGLE SEE VIDEO, READ READ READ FOR THESE TOPICS TILL YOU ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND--- MITOSIS, MEOSIS, OSMOSIS, DIFFUSION, PROTON, NEUTRON, ELECTRON, BALANCING EQUATIONS, FUCTION OF ALL SYSTEMS, PUNNETT SQUARE, PHOTOSYNTHESIS WITH EQUATIONS, RESPIRATION WITH EQUATIONS,KINETIC ENERGY, POTENTIAL ENERGY,CATALYSIS, PH SCALE BOTH ACID AND BASE ALSO WHEN YOU COMBINE BOTH WHAT YOU GET, OXIDATION REDUCTION REACTION, KNOW VERY WELL OF SCIENTIFIC METHODS... furthermore please for heaven sake know in and out of each of these topic and on the topic in ATI i didn't mention for science just keep googling it....THE KEY TO PASS THIS SECTION IS UNDERSTANDING AND THINKING ABOUT WHAT THE QUESTION IS ASKING IT REQUIRES YOU TO THINK. STOP, READ, ASK YOURSELF WHAT IS IT ASKING YOU AND PICK THE ANSWER AND DON'T DOUBLE GUESS LEAVE IT AFTER YOU PICKED AN ANSWER OR GO BACK IF YOU ARE 1000% SURE YOU ARE WRONG THEN CHANGE OTHERWISE LEAVE IT!!!

English: this is my second language I had a little bit hard time, but it is RIGHT OUT OF THE BOOK FOR ALL THE THINGS THAT WILL COME ON THE TEST!!!

FINAL THOUGHT:

IF YOU SHORT ON TIME CONCENTRATE ON SCIENCE, READING, MATH, AND ENGLISH--GO IN THAT ORDER.

IF YOU GOT MORE TIME REALLY WOULD SUGGEST YOU TO GO THROUGH EVERYTHING ON THE BOOK BECAUSE IT WILL REALLY REALLY HELP YOU AND YOU WILL COVER A LOT.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT THING, DON'T DOUBLE GUESS AS IN IF YOU PICKED AN ANSWER STAY WITH IT, UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY 1000% THINK YOU ARE RIGHT THEN CHANGE IT IF NOT LEAVE IT AND MOVE ON.

IF I CAN DO IT YOU CAN DEFINITELY DO IT!!!!

USE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION, BLOCK OUT ALL THE NOISE AND FOCUS ON THE TEST!

good luck on the test if you have question don't hesitate to ask i will be more than happy to help you out. :)

Hello my second language is English too, I am so worry about English and reading section. Do you recommend to buy the online practice test? Can you do them, more than once, with diff questions? Thank you

thanks but for English do you have to memorize that list of type of word and rule of things like ei and ie words, suffixes for words ending in y, ect ect?

For example a question like "which word is an exception to the rules of ie and ei words....?"

What would you recommend in terms of vocab? any big words on there?

Specializes in OMFS, Dentistry.

Thank you for this. I am taking it next month and very nervous!

Specializes in Vent/trach peg tube.

Thank you for you detailed advise. I will soon start studying for TEAS V as well.

I scored a 58% on the online practice exam, I BOMBED science, it was really bad. Everything was so random!! I've been getting 70's in the ATI manual though... How similar is the practice assessments to the exam???

Thank you so very much for sharing this information! I'm signing up to take this exam in mid-november, leaving me with 10 weeks of studying. I'm doing the McGrall-Hill online tools, and their practice exams include some geometry and physics. Does the actual TEAS approach these subjecst at all, or should I pay less attention to those?? I'm ordering the ATI book today. Thanks again.

Thanks for the heads up! I bought my ATI book yesterday and I was looking at buying biology & chemistry demystified because I know that science is my weak area. By any chance, do you know of anyone that used the TEAS V Flashcard Study System? I was contemplating on getting that as well; I need all the help I can possibly get because this one test can change everything for the better or the worst (which I'm sure you know). Oh and what was your score if you don't mind me asking?

I just got the flash card study system and now I'm wondering if I have too much information to wade through. The flashcards are comprehensive, but they really aren't flashcards, in that there is just a great deal of text on each one. So it's not like you can explain a thrombocyte and move on to the next card. Each card is a larger set of ideas. This can be a good thing and it can also be a hinderance. I'm going to keep them because they definitely will be useful when waiting in long lines or when stuck in traffic. Another thing I've done is subscribed to a couple of anatomy/physio podcasts on itunes. They're free and in particular, the one called Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology is pretty dynamic. I highly recommend this.

Thank you so much for letting me know, I really appreciate it. I will definitely be going on itunes tonight to check that out. I thought the flashcards would be like regular flashcards, but too much information can be a bit overwhelming with everything else that we have to study. I'm just soooo nervous about this test.
