Brought back my childhood. Never mind those guys, what about ADAM-12? Fond memories of the blond cop.
Anyhoos, what's wrong with whites and tidy hair? There are a couple in my hospital who do it on a regular basis. All I know is that when I pull out the whites and put the hair up, the patients are much politer. Now, where did I leave my cap??

Rumor has it that the hospital I'm in school at is going back to white uniforms, for just that reason. But they are still trying to determine what to use for caps, since their are male nurses nowadays. Apparently the anything-goes in scrubs fashions has reached the epitome of casual, plus made it too difficult to see at a glance who is whom. We students and out instructors are more professionally turned out in appearance than the floor nurses, and the new administration decided to do something about that.
Edited: LOL! Student nurses were nasty even back then, hehe! And gosh, that truck is so OLD! ;-)

It may seem "old" today, but the ambulance and truck were state of the art for the 1970's. Read some of the comments. *LOL*
As for the snarky nurse am going to have to see if the entire episode is available somewhere to find out what her problem was. *LOL* More likely than not she had a thing or maybe a fling (or wanted to) with the EMT and it didn't go as planned.
Forget going after doctors, then as today many ER nurses dated and or married law enforcement, EMT's, firemen and so forth. Those men were/are often at the ER for various professional reasons and when things are slow (yeah I know, *LOL*) allot can happen over a cup of coffee or bottle of water.
As for the uniforms, it really is a shame so many suppliers have either gone out of business and or mainly switched to producing scrubs. There used to be so many wonderful or cute white uniform dresses, skirts and tops, and finally pant-suits in nice quality cotton or cotton/poly blend. The later wasn't the cheap stuff you find today that turns grey after just several washes either.
P.S.
You gotta love head nurse Dixie.
First she we see her chewing out a post-grad, then she assigns beds for the incoming patients without leaving her chair. Notice how the snarky blonde stops doing her busy work (looks like she was counting meds or something) and goes off without a peep. Now that's power!
Try Value Village or GoodWill, or even the Sally Ann thrift Shop. You can find some great vintage whites in there. Just remember that a 16 back in the 70s is way smaller than today's 16.

What a great clip! Complete with the black velvet band on the caps of the graduate nurses. They look just like my mother when she graduated from nursing school. She says that pinning the caps in place was a pain in the butt. She lived in a nurse's dorm attached to a hospital, and the dorm mother inspected everyone who had work in the morning to make sure all nursing students looked prim and proper! :)

Yup, that's what we looked like....except for the hair, because we didn't have Hollywood hairdressers to make our do's pert and poufy. But the head-nurse wearing her's down....tsk,tsk! NO hair on the collar! We'd have been told to put it up NOW or go home. And all the nurses had the hemlines right : mid-knee. If the hem was too short, you had to go home and change! Scrubs were only permitted if your uni was grossly soiled on the job....and the supervisor had to call the OR to give permission to issue you the scrubs.
Ah the good ole " scrub envy" days. *LOL*
In a cafeteria dominated by whites (with or without caps) in would come the OR, Unit, and L&D nurses in their scrubs (in the 1970's would probably have been dresses) and usually without caps (when staff were required to wear them). You could just hear "who do they think they are" under so many staff nurse's breaths.
