Ok, yay I finished nursing school!! I was elected (told) to give the "funny" speech and I am at a loss for what to write. If anyone can direct me to some possible topics to talk about I would be thrilled. Thanks a heep.:trout:

How about
"You know before I started nursing I thought it would be like on TV - wiping the surgeon's fevered brow during a difficult operation, gently holdign the hand of the hand of the person dying from "ranoutofideasforascriptitis". I actually thought it would be like "General Hospital" and there would BE more staff than patients and most of the interesting happenings would occur in the nurses lounge.
You get the idea - there is lots and lots and lots of material poking fun at the common misconceptions and media portrayals of nurses.
Thanx Gwenith, Theres a good direction Ill let you all know how it goes over

You could talk about all the times that Walmart greeter, McDonalds, telemarketing jobs looked good.
How car troubles only start when you begin nursing school.
How we've all felt we've had every symptom to every disease known.
Have fun! Congrats!!!

I talked about the instrutors and the little quirks they had or the special stories they told. One instructor would take your cell phone and answer it if it rang in class. I had mine ring during the speech and asked if she wanted to answer it :)

Or try to collect first semester's clinical mistake. For example, I didn't know how to take BP. So I squeezed the cuff about five time and still no BP. It turned out to be that I didn't turn my Litthman to the correct position. My other classmate things that BP machine was a crash cart.
Thanks for everyones input and help. My speech was a great success! I got tons of compliments from people in the audience and it felt good.
