Where's the science? Where are the diseases? Where are the drugs? Sigh... Sleep? Stress? Self-concept? Culture? Caring? Before I get flamed, I know and understand that this stuff is critical. You don't have to go there LOL. I am a naturally sensitive person. My spirit is really dialed into people.:redbeathe I get the big picture. I'm not complaining about living these concepts, just being tested on them!:) I have an engineering degree. I know how to study for math. I know how to study for science. I don't know how to study for this touchy feely stuff. It's SO frustrating to me. People are so individualized and interpersonal relationships are so complex, I can not comprehend what kind of multiple choice "there's only one RIGHT, right answer" questions there can be. Someone please tell me the classes get more scientific as I progress!!! I desperately want to get back into my comfort zone.

How far are you into the program? My theory is that they load a lot of stupid stuff in the beginning so that they can get any John Q to teach it. Why waste your highly qualified teachers on the noobs, when a good chunk of them aren't going to pass anyway.
The meds and pathos will come, just wait.

Well fundamentals is the foundation for all the other courses you will take. It doesn't get much better. The goal is the understand disease processes but provide nursing care. Sounds like you should become a medical doctor not a nurse......caring touchy feely is what nursing is based on. Good luck in whatevet yout endeavors!!!!

Studying in nursing is not at all like what you've been through. The exams are a whole new chapter. Our exams were all in NCLEX format and we all were shocked for awhile. It's hard to hear "yes, there may be more than one answer, but the correct one will be the best." WTH!!??! Fundamentals was the easiest but seemed to take a bit to get used to. Good luck! :)

Don't worry I was in the same boat my first semester of my ADN program. The test didn't bother me as much as the clinicals did. Every day in the hospital was the same for us, meet the patient, give the patient a bath, walk them around the unit, brush their teeth, end of clinicals. It does get better with time though, wait until you hit pharmacology and med-surg, you'll be back to your strong suit. I would advise you to take this semester seriously though, learn what you can while you're in the beginning of the program, it will come back to haunt you if you slide through without learning any concepts.
