FULL TIME student while taking CNA course!! Help!

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

My school offered the CNA program last semester. I signed up but the teacher became ill and they cancelled the program. This spring I signed up for 17 hrs( the last of my nursing prerequisite classes) and the inform me that the CNA program is back on. I am so scared. It's a night class Mondays and Wednesdays (6-9 pm) and my prerequisite classes are spread out through the week so I am going for it! I want to be able to work part time during nursing school. I hope this was the right decision. Has anyone else taken the CNA program while taking a full load?

While I wasn't in school during my CNA program, I very we'll could have been. I spent exactly zero time outside of school studying or preparing for class and exactly zero time prepping for the state exam.

Of course class still takes up time and you need to make sure it isn't taking up necessary study hours for other classes. But in most cases I think you'd be ok.

I took a CNA program this past summer. I also completed A&P, medical term and finished a plebotomy course. All in 8weeks. The CNA program was the least of my worries. I also spent zero time outside of class studying for it. It was fairly easy. I think taking a full load along with the CNA program is very doable.

Oh wow! You were busy this summer! Thanks for the insight. I feel a lot better now. The class stars this Monday so we will see how it turns out.....no turning back now :-)

Hey guys! Just wanted to give you an update, and to see how your CNA classes were going. So far the class has been awesome! We are learning how to ambulate using a gait belt and just finished occupied and unoccupied bed making. I think I was over stressing myself. Honestly, I am really surprised; this semester has not been bad at all (so far) lol. I am taking Chemistry, microbiology, government 2, english 2, and statistics ( the hardest class in my opinion). :oldman: lol this is how I will look at the end of the semester with the lack of sleep. It will all be worth it in the end. How are you guys liking your CNA course.

Just take your cna class in the summer? I'd just focus on school work and gpa right now.
