FSW Nursing Spring 2016

Published

Formerly Edison state college.

Who is planning to enroll in the nursing program for Spring 2016?

So who is joining me? It's going to be a long process and I simply can not wait to get into the nursing program.

I hope to apply into Lee and get. I haven't taken my HESI yet out of nerves, but have to swallow that pill soon in order to apply.

I got the admission packet in my email this afternoon, so much information and forms lol I am a bit stir crazy !

Yeah there are sooooo many papers!

I hope everything is going good for you guys. This is a lot of paperwork and running around lol it'll all be worth it though :) Goodluck to all of you and January will be here before we know it!

Has anyone been able to register? I was checking the classes and it seems some have already registered in other campuses and a one for Lee on the courses we would be taking. Lol I'm just still excited and want to get my classes picked already!

I called the department today about the same thing. She informed me that "no one has registered" I told her that it did appear that some people have registered. She said that they email us when we can register. I got the vibe that she was annoyed with my call, perhaps they are really busy with all of us.

Also talked to registration office about my major changing and Nursing specifically has it so that they hand in those forms themselves, once Nursing does hand them in, registration informed me that they process them very quickly. We aren't aloud to fill them out and go to the registrar. We have to wait till they feel like turning them in I guess.

Kind of annoying but all the classes are reserved so everything will be fine. It's just weird to not know exact schedules at this point when we are used to usually registering so far ahead of classes starting.

Wow, I wish I would have found this site earlier. It would have been nice having people to commiserate with while I waited to see if my application was approved. lol But thank goodness that's behind me, I got accepted to Collier! Yay!

Now that I'm pouring over all the new requirements, I'm wondering what everyone is doing for their vaccinations? I made an appointment with my doctor, but I couldn't get in until Nov 30th. If they have to order labs, I'm nervous the results won't come back in time. :nailbiting: Does anyone know of a way to get them done sooner? Will a walk-in clinic do all that?

And once we get shots or show immunity, what do we upload to Certified Profile? They didn't seem too specific, so I'm thinking that any sort of lab results sheet or paperwork from the doc showing a vaccination was given should suffice. I suppose they will tell me if it doesn't!

I think they are asking for all these things way too fast because of pushing back the application deadline. It kind of sucks

Congrats and welcome!! As far as the vaccinations, maybe try the Florida department of health? I feel like they might be easier to get in with and probably cheap. I am going to employee health at gulf coast hospital for mine. I'm not sure if non employees can go there unfortunately.

I'm sure that they will be flexible with deadlines with all of this, they have to set due dates or else some people wouldn't complete it all or put it off till last minute.

Also, it's not a bad idea to get an immunization record from your PCP. Even if you can't get an appointment right away they should have no problem giving you a copy of your record. I got mine and I already have most of them and I only have to do a few now because a lot of them last awhile. I'm just going to upload that record.

Best of luck!

Well! You got past the waiting part, congratulations!!! I hope to get it all done in time too, I have received majority if not all of my vaccinations. Do we need to repeat some even if we got them as children? & yeah it's all confusing to me right now on that certified profile.

Welcome and CONGRATULATIONS. As we embark on this journey I wish you the best.

Thank you, everyone!

As for my immunization record, I doubt that my current doctor has it. That would have all been done through my pediatrician many moons ago, and she has since retired. I know I need a tetorifice booster anyway, but the rest I'll have to be tested for to make sure I'm currently immune. Some can indeed wear off after many years, @leanets, then you just have to get a booster for it.

I don't mind doing any of it, I just wish there was more time!

If you got accepted into Collier i would check and see if you could register, it seems many students have already. Just a heads up :)
