FSW FALL 2018

Published

Hello Everybody. My name is Keesh. I'm starting this thread a little early to get a head start on things. I was looking into starting nursing school in the Spring of 2018, but things come up. Now I'm going to start in the FALL. I'm currently looking into the FSW ANEW program which works better with my work schedule. I was told by a student the ANEW program is just like being in the FULL TIME program except it's online. It consist of hard work, time consuming and dedication. I plan to apply for LEE campus as well.

*CHOW

Okay Thank You. Did anyone receive an email stating their application was received? All I received was a confirmation status after I submitted the application

Lee Traditional Was My First Option

Lee ANEW Second Option

Hey guys,

I'm currently in the nursing program at FSW (lee campus) and I just finished my first semester this spring. If you guys have any specific questions about the program I can try and answer them for you.

I just applied! Does anyone know how we can check to make sure transcripts from other schools have been received?

Hi welcome!! Which program were you in? If you were in ANEW; Can you give us details on how it went throughout the semenster. I did put the ANEW options on my nursing application.

Not quite sure to be honest. I would call one of the nursing staff like Wendy from Charlotte campus or the the other one from the other campus if you applied to lee or Collier

Thank you! I will call them on Monday. Hopefully they do, but I sent my documents in late, so fingers crossed.

Hi. Could you tell me, in which semester(s) there are 2 clinical days? Thank you :)

The first and second semesters have only one clinical day and the third semester has two.

I am in the ANEW program at lee. My experience this past semester has been great over all. We had one class, 3 hours long, during the week in the evening for our practicum class and then a clinical shift on either Saturday or Sunday (which ever day you register for). All of the theory work is taught through text book readings, power-points, and a few short videos on ATI. Most of your learning will be in your text books through self study. Time management is key for the ANEW program since the students are expected to do a lot of self teaching/studying prior to classes on campus. All of the professors I have come in contact with so far have been very helpful and showed concern for the success of the students. This first semester included pharmacology for all students along with our nursing courses so it was pretty intense.

That's not a bad schedule. It's similar as to getting more clinical time as the traditional program as the program continues. Self study doesn't sound too bad. Did you make a study group with any of the nursing students? Any tips you may suggest between during the phase application and for our first semenster?

Ya clinical hours are the same between the traditional and the ANEW programs. The difference is that the traditional students do their 1 clinical shift during the week and the ANEW students do their 1 clinical shift on the weekend.

I didn't form a study group because I didn't have time to meet up with people. I live up in Port Charlotte (I applied to Charlotte ANEW but they didn't have a class) so my commute down to Fort Myers is too long to meet up with students. However, I did keep in constant contact with a few students via phone/text/email to go over concepts prior to exam which helped a lot.

One big suggestion I have is to not study ahead prior to the start of class. Once class begins it will be a lot of information coming at you in a short period of time so it's important to rest your brain when you can so you don't get burnt out. Plus, it's impossible to know where you will need to start studying since you will be jumping around a lot in your text books throughout the semester.

I could get into a couple specifics about what to focus on in your classes but it may be a bit premature since it is just the application phase right now.

Let me know if you guys have any more questions. I remember what it's like being in your position waiting for applications to be processed. Hang in there!
