FSW Fall 2015

Published

Florida Southwestern State College formerly Edison State College. I started thread for FSW but it is full with spring applicants. So I decided to start a new one for this upcoming fall.

Who is joining me next fall in nursing?

I plan to apply for Part-time or Lee full time. I have one more semester of pre-requisites. I am taking A&P 1, Micro, College Algebra and Nutrition. Kill me now. :arghh: lol A full time semester of craziness but almost done after that hopefully with pre-requisites with the exemption of A&P 2 and a humanities class.

I plan to take the Hesi in mid Feb or march and retake if needed at the end of April. Schedule has been posted and I plan to study a lot this winter break. So excited but so nervous.

98 points and my friend applied with 67. Her score is ridiculous because her grades were so good. The HESI score really makes a difference. We both applied for Charlotte only.

The hesi can really make or break a score! I applied to Charlotte with only 79 because of two c's from my first year of college six years ago. Unfortunately they don't count retaking classes that had "passable" scores. So basically, because I didn't fail them I cannot retake them anymore. I'm stuck with a 3.3 GPA :(

That's so unfair! If u retake a course and know the material better why shouldn't that be reflected in your grades?! I think I'm more nervous than my friend is about her getting in! At least I understand the process better thanks to Kat.

You have nothing to worry about with a 98! Haha, I think I will end up reapplying next semester, but that's OK with me. You used to be able to retake a class you got a B in, but for some reason they changed the rules this last semester? I'll get in eventually :D

With all the high scores posted on here, I'm biting my fingers and hoping I get in....Guess we will know next week

Wow, 98 is an amazing score! Congrats! Happy Sunday everyone! Just a FEW more days!!:nailbiting:

Wow, 98 you will definitely get in. And yes hesi can make you or break you.

Im so nervous now of getting in because of the explanation. So most likely I won't get in because I'm sure there is better candidates than me for lee nights as first choice and lee day will get full before and sinxe there is 24 spots on Charlotte, I'm sure it will fill up first and second choice before I will get accepted. Oh well, I'm prepared to apply this fall for spring.

I was going take a&p 2 this summer, but since its only going to give maybe two points, I will wait to this fall if I dont get accepted.

Its out of my hands and the wait is killing me!

Thanks. I really hope we all get in to our first choice! When we get in, I hope everyone is this supportive in our classes. A guy in the program at Charlotte said the teachers are nice, so that's a plus!

Stay positive! Even though there are a lot of applicants, they didn't all pick the same program as you. They also don't all have more points than u. :)

I hope we all get in, I would be proud to be in the same graduating class with all of you. I love the determination and passion for this that you all have.

I have a question for all you guys... What is your background story and what made you want to become a nurse?

You can say the medical field runs in my blood. My mom was a CNA/MA and tried LPN a few times but never had time to dedicate with all six of her kids. My maternal grandfather was a pharmacist, my aunt is a LPN and my cousin is nurse practitioner. My paternal uncle is a family doctor and my cousin is a dentist.

As far as I can remember, I always wanted to be a nurse. I remember dreaming of becoming a midwife, but now I would love to work in ICU and especially in the cardiac unit. However, as a teenager, my life choices were not good and got a job right after high school and enrolled in college a year after but then shortly found out I was pregnant with my son. So I put my dream on hold.

After my mom passed way of cancer, I knew life was too short to not pursue my dream. When my daughter started VPK then I started school, too. I am now very eager and more determined than ever to pursue my nursing career.

Thanks. I hope I do get in. I have 69 points so I am sure lots of more points than me.
