Florida Southwestern State College formerly Edison State College. I started thread for FSW but it is full with spring applicants. So I decided to start a new one for this upcoming fall.
Who is joining me next fall in nursing?
I plan to apply for Part-time or Lee full time. I have one more semester of pre-requisites. I am taking A&P 1, Micro, College Algebra and Nutrition. Kill me now. lol A full time semester of craziness but almost done after that hopefully with pre-requisites with the exemption of A&P 2 and a humanities class.
I plan to take the Hesi in mid Feb or march and retake if needed at the end of April. Schedule has been posted and I plan to study a lot this winter break. So excited but so nervous.
Just some FYI....if anyone needs to retest for the October deadline, you can go onto quizlet.com. type in Hesi test and the section you need. You are able to print the study cards, play games and test yourself. It's 100% free and is done by students who have taken the test. If you'd like, look up my name (katryna renas) and I have all the study cards in a file named Hesi. A majority of the questions from the test are dead on (including questions with MC answers). (I can thank our wonderful memories for that) Also I found out yesterday, they have dropped the NUR 1010 class. We will no longer be taking that, we will all start off with NUR 1022 and NUR1022L
If y'all have any questions, feel free to ask. I've been going through this process since 2003! For you students who have not completed all your pre-req's, quizlet also has study guides for all those classes as well. Some come from the tests, while others are just study guides

That blows, I'm in the same boat. I have 4 medical degrees including MA. However, I worked with the ER department. Still blows. But at least my previous school along with FSW, I will be graduating with my BSRN. So that's a plus. I am interested in end of life care, and also have 2 minors, nurse anesthetist, and Psychology
Very impressive! Those are the type of credentials I was talking about earlier
I've been told in the past, 2- 5 years experience in a particular field, allows you to sit for the licensure examinations pertaining to that field. Sometimes you may have to pay the expenses and sometimes your job will cover the fees
I talked to Mary (American heart association) her # is 239-691-0603. The CPR/AED classes are on Saturdays from 11-1. They cost $40.00 and are good for 2 years. You have to call her and she will provide her email. You must sign up for this class. You will receive your certification that day, she will mail out your certification and will be issued an ID card which she will mail to you. I would wait until you find out if you were accepted however.

Not exactly. The QP points have to be close. So an 80 and a 50 would be put in different "baskets". Here's how it was explained to me....basically, day lee first choice in one basket, all night Lee in another, all Charlotte and Collier 1st picks in another.....then they move on to second pick.....place all applications in their baskets and so on....the 3 schools get together and weed out those who will receive the denial email.....They are left with the rest..next they take a basket (1st choice day lee) and sort through the scores, all 90's ,80's 70's ECT. They do the same for all 4 options......then they go through and pick highest scores..for example...if you picked Lee night with a 95+ (u would be placed in a special yes for now area) they would move all lower applications into 2nd choice school baskets and go through highest QP points until all applications are sorted through. This Is why your QP score and choices are so important. Lee campus has the most seats but is also the most competitive. Lee night is hardest due to ppl working, having kids, etc. Lee day is second hardest, then Charlotte and finally collier. This confusion is the exact reason why no one wants to talk and tell us the route they take...in my own opinion I think it should be based on GPA and other credentials
