FSW Fall 2015

Published

Florida Southwestern State College formerly Edison State College. I started thread for FSW but it is full with spring applicants. So I decided to start a new one for this upcoming fall.

Who is joining me next fall in nursing?

I plan to apply for Part-time or Lee full time. I have one more semester of pre-requisites. I am taking A&P 1, Micro, College Algebra and Nutrition. Kill me now. :arghh: lol A full time semester of craziness but almost done after that hopefully with pre-requisites with the exemption of A&P 2 and a humanities class.

I plan to take the Hesi in mid Feb or march and retake if needed at the end of April. Schedule has been posted and I plan to study a lot this winter break. So excited but so nervous.

I have feeling we aren't going to find out till next Wednesday or so. I cant believe they have taken this long, scores must have been close. Last fall, it took 8 days and spring took 15-16 days. Tomorrow is 14 days. :(

woooosahhhhh : )

I have had two calls from 239 and havent been able to pick up. No message. Too chicken to call back. Im guessing if it was FSW, they would leave message but still...talk about nerve wrecking.

I talked with the head ppl at Lee and Charlotte today. They said to relax. Between all 3 campus, there are 300 applicants. 48 seats for lee full and part time. Charlotte and Collier have 24 seats. She informed me that due to such a large number this round, they have not even met yet. Tuesday morning they will meet and make their choices. They expect to begin emailing applicants with 1 of 3 letters. 1st letter is to say the application was denied, normally due to low GPA and below a 74% on Hesi. 2nd letter, sorry but there were more applicants than room and to reapply and 3rd, background and drug test information. Based on those emails (no calls will be made) you should know between Wednesday and Friday of next week. You HAD 3 choices, if you only chose one, and someone had a higher QP score, you will not be a candidate for any other school options. I had a Hesi of 85% GPA of 3.5 and all pre-req's completed. This leaves me with a total of 74. Keep in mind, they look mainly at your QP score. No one is accepted until the background and drug tests are completed. This is where the extra room will apply. Hope that helps everyone. Now we can rest with checking our emails (FYI..it will only be sent to your bucs email), at least in till next Wednesday. She also implied, everyone will be notified within 10 business days (from Tuesday)

Sorry, forgot to add: if you have say a QP of 80 and you choose Lee night as number 1and Lee day as #2... if someone with 79 QP chose Lee day as #1 and Lee night as #2, the person with 79 would get into their number 1 choice over your #1..Sorry if this confuses you

@Kat84 - Why would they chose a 79 over an 80? That is confusing, but thanks for all the information!! :)

It's all about your choice and QP....so the person with a 79 would get into their number 1(say day program) because the person with the QP of 80 chose night program as their number 1 and day as number 2.....that was just a for instance.....I'm quit sure there would be many others with an 80 and a day/night option as well....just depends on your QP score and your choices

Kat84,

Thank you for sharing all of that wonderful information. I was especially curious about your second post as I noticed in previous threads they mentioned how some people with lower scores than them got in but they did not. That now makes sense. Good luck! I hope to see you post if you get in! :)

@Charschaal2

I had a similar issue, I graduated from another college. Only 1/2 of my credit was accepted, so I had to retake many of the same classes. The head honchos told me that they will take the higher score of any duplicated classes! Hope that makes you feel better. So yes, you would have the higher score

kat84 so there isn't a chance to get your 2nd choice with the high amount of applicants? If any application score is accepted to the first choice as long as there is room lets say the lowest being 50 a higher application score of 88 wont stand a chance on it's second pick? The only way anyone will be considered for their second or third choice is if there wasn't enough first choice applicants for that program. That's the way I'm understanding it.
