Florida Southwestern State College formerly Edison State College. I started thread for FSW but it is full with spring applicants. So I decided to start a new one for this upcoming fall.
Who is joining me next fall in nursing?
I plan to apply for Part-time or Lee full time. I have one more semester of pre-requisites. I am taking A&P 1, Micro, College Algebra and Nutrition. Kill me now. lol A full time semester of craziness but almost done after that hopefully with pre-requisites with the exemption of A&P 2 and a humanities class.
I plan to take the Hesi in mid Feb or march and retake if needed at the end of April. Schedule has been posted and I plan to study a lot this winter break. So excited but so nervous.
Thanks bombaychaat. Its good to know all these stuff from someone from the inside.Hey, I had a quick question, I want to get a stethoscope but in the handbook it said to wait for recommendations from instructors. What do they usually recommend? I am getting one as a gift for my upcoming birthday and I don't want anyone getting one I cant use. Thanks so much.
So I ended up buying a Littmann cardiology 3. They will give you a kit that includes a basic stethoscope. The instructors didn't give us specific brand, but most all of them use some sort of Littman. In all honesty, a cardiology 3 is WAY more you need in school, but I tried out a friend's and loved it.
I wouldn't necessarily get one yet. There will be several people and instructors with all different types, and the best thing to do is try them all out and see what works for you. Lots of people were happy with a $40 Littmann. Other people love their MDF's. You just don't know until you try it out.

Thank you for all the information! Is there anything that they do not provide that we will need to purchase? Like the bandage scissors and storage clipboard? The kit seems great, but I just want to be prepared when the day comes :)
Thanks again!

The give you the bandage scissors but not the clipboard. The clipboard is for clinicals, and you won't need that until you go to the hospital in late Feb/early March. I didn't take a clipboard with me to clinicals because otherwise you have to carry it all day, which is pretty much impossible when you need to wear isolation precautions or even change a bed.
There isn't really anything you need right away besides khakis/polos and books. They will tell you what books you need at orientation.
They also give you a pen light.

Thank you, I was going to buy all of those things, so now I know to hold off! I appreciate your help!
Those are nice!I'm returning my stethoscope (Littmann lightweight). It bothers me that the acoustic quality is a 6 (someone earlier pointed that out to me). I will splurge and get the Littmann Cardiology III. Need all the help I can get! :)
I want Cardiology III but not at this moment. I didnt even consider lightweight as one of my options because of acoustic quality. I am still debating on Littmann Classic S.E II or possibility III but I also like the reviews on MDF One. People say its as good or better than Classic. I would like to go a store and try them all out.

I started out with a littmann lightweight and it's comfortable but the sound quality is certainly better on my cardiology III but I'm sure if you have a lightweight you would still do just fine but if you're able to get better acoustics then why not right?
