FSCJ SPRING 2015

Published

Hello, everyone!

Since no one has started a Spring 2015 for FSCJ Nursing, I thought I would start it. I plan on applying the beginning of September I will take the exam in august. I'm very nervous of course. I have a preq gpa of 2.87 but I have an overall gpa of 3.23. Has anyone heard that FSCJ has changed their entrance exam to the HESI A2? Anyone applying to FSCJ hoping to get accepted for the spring?

@jatutner1994 I don't know about the sociology. I would say get I. Contact with the nursing dept to find out for sure.

@Jaturner1994, Mrs. Cheryl James this morning. She just confirmed that Sociology is no longer needed and Chemistry is required starting spring 2015. Sorry so late :(.

Its okay, I dropped it and am filing an appeal to get my money credited for fall term. I do now know that chemistry with lab is needed, you can be enrolled in micro in fall and apply, the last day to apply is October 1st and Te new test is hesi a2 but i do not know how to score it! Can you all let me know how you did on your hesi?

Has anyone calculated their score based on the new catalog for spring 2015? I did and am disappointed but i do not know if it is different than the old on or if the cut offs will be similar! Please let me know.

Hey does anyone know if chemistry with a lab is needed for the spring 2015 term

Nope just the liberal arts

If you post your email I'll send you the new packet

Hello I also will soon be appling for spring 2015 fscj nursing. I have sorta just been snooping around reading everyones post and thought why not join. Ive read that they are dropping the preq.sociology and adding chem.? Could someone list the needed preq. For me? And @jaturner1994 i know im new on here but could you send me the new application also ive been trying to get one on hand for the longest but no campus seem to have one. I have yet to take the hesi and probally wont take it intil the begining of sept. But i believe i have all my classes done im in micro now and i have a cpr class coming up so hopefully i do great on the hesi and i sould be good to good im still so nervous tho hoping that i gain enough points to get in.....im sure we can all help each other get through this process together and even then befriend each other to help each other get through the actual program

email:[email protected]

I am curious about the chemistry too... because they are requiring the 3 credit hour chem but some people including myself have taken the 4 credit hour chem which would technically count according to the packet where is says the 3 credit hour chem or any other college level chemistry. So on the points system they are marking chem as a x3 but if we have a 4 credit hour chem on our transcript will they count it as x4 instead or still only give us x3? hmm food for thought.....

I calculated my score based off of the new application with the hesi and I am sitting at a 201.3 or a 203.3 if they count my chem as x4 instead. just a 2 point difference nothing i'm going to freak over unless that is what makes me borderline getting in or not. I imagine the cut off scores will end up being different because some people will do better or worse on the HESI rather than the NAT. Different people are better as different test. Hopefully it wont be too huge of a margin thought cuz I would say I feel a little relief to have 201.3/240 points. But don't want to give myself false hope :(

Hmm, that is a great question because I have a 4 credit chem as well because I took it at UNF! That would be nice! And that is a great score! I have a 177 because I am missing micro which really stinks but awe well! Im planning on retaking the hesi so hopefully I can bring it up!

do any of you know if when they take the hesi scores do they take the best from both times you took it or is it just one or the other because I know with the NAT they took the best from each!

I'm glad you said something about micro lol I calculated my score including my micro which i'm taking in the fall LOL so nope I actually have a 177.3 without micro...wow what a buzzkill lol. oh well no changing my grades lol. but I noticed in the new packet that they have a section that has where we put our currently grade at the time of application if we are currently taking it so maybe I'll still get to count my micro but with the cut off being Oct 1st that's still a month to royally screw a grade up LOL.

I know they take the best scores from tests taken in the past two years. so if you do better in a section and dont do as well in another the second time they will take the best of each section from each test. which excites me since i'm going to take the HESI again the end of sept but I'm going to really focus hard on studying the science sections since i know what they mostly cover now. but I'd definitely like to keep or better my 90% and 94% in math and reading comprehension lol but at least i know i'm guaranteed those scores.

Hey! I wanted to share this with everyone. I am confused about sociology and chemistry. So I emailed Cheryl James and here is a copy and her reply:

Subject: Nursing program

Hi Mrs James! I attended the info meeting for the nursing program on June 26th. I clearly remember and have it written down that Sociology will count for those applying for the Spring 15 term and those applying for summer 15 and beyond will count Chemistry instead. Am I correct on this? The degree audits online have already changed and are counting Chemistry rather than Sociology. Thank you.

Her reply:::

Good Morning,

Your Sociology will count in the point system for spring. The degree audit is not the point system. If you get into the program you must meet what is on the degree audit.

So what are we to do?? In the info meeting on June 26th she assured that the only change for those applying for Spring 15 would be the Hesi and that the chem/sociology exchange would be put into effect in spring for those applying for summer and beyond. I don't want to not get in on a technicality so I need some clarification. I have both classes but one is an A and the other a B. I am calling her tomorrow and will get back to talk.

Also....any ap classes such as English comp is automatically counted as a C for the point system. I am really upset about this bc that class was harder than any class I took in my bachelors degree. Just needed to vent! I get only 3 points for that with the new system...ugh
