Hey Troops,

I am bored today ( not that I dont have plenty to do as we all do...) , however I thought I would start us a new thread , hope everyone enjoys and congrats to all and I look forward to meeting you all in Jan along with working with you. Merry Christmas and a Joyous holiday season to everyone likewise..... :yeah:

Hey guys! Congrats on the greatest achievement yet, getting in! I wanted to know the Nights and Weekends schedule if any of you happen to know...

Thanks!

I'm applying for Fall 2011 nights/weekends. I will have 207.5 points. Will this be enough to get me into the n/w program?

Thanks.

I applied with 207.08 and got in for Spring 2011 in n&w. :) The fall is always a higher point value it seems. For Fall 2010 it was 203.24 I think, so hopefully you should be good to go! If I were you I would feel good about those points. Just keep in mind they change per semester depending on how many applicants there are. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

So sorry it has taken so long to answer-- call it lala land of studying!

In the end I got a laptop- it i heavier than the ipad, but it allows the full features of the ebooks (espeically searching/highlighting etc.)-- plus I have resorted to the fabulous rolling backpack thing- don't knock it till you have the enormous amount of "stuff" to bring!!! Lol I will type notes along with the power points in class, and can more easily follow along/ highlight concepts in the e-book, as well. I ended up getting the paper books too- elsevier worked something out for me and I was able to add them on after the fact (which I am very thankful for). I needed to physically SEE some of the diagrams/tables next to the text (in the e-books sometimes they are separate- and it makes it a bit more confusing) there are pros and cons to both- most people in my class have both, some just the paper books, and they have certainly come in handy. At the end of the day finding what works best for you takes a bit of trial and error. Personally I don't feel like the Ipad had enough features to make it worth purchasing one (we actually still have the ipad- we won it in a christmas raffle, and I do use it from time to time to read some of my books when we are on the go/ flying etc. b/c of it being light and portable- but b/c I prefer to type my notes-- taking notes/highlighting isn't possible when reading on the ipad). Hope it helps and best of luck! :)

Question for you guys- I was accepted into the Summer Program for 2011. Our orientation is 2morrow, did u guys bring your spouse or someone with u 2 orientation?

I didn't really notice that anyone did. Honestly, I feel they'd be very bored. I think I saw one person brought their mother, other than that, it looked like everyone knew someone else that was going to orientation or made friends when they got there.

So... Term II schedule is out. Everyone is in what I've decided to call "super secret planning mode" to maximize their clinical experience/ instructor preference/ personal schedule... I'm struggling with the decision as I'm sure a lot of you are as well... the clinical site is a biggie as that means for some people driving completely across town, wanting to get the very best and most varied clinical experience is of course a goal of all nursing students, and sometimes personal commitments can play a big role in your choice of section...

Anyone else with young children concerned about the early clinical hours and getting kids off to school/daycare?

At least it's better than the ominous lottery... dum dum dum lol.

We're all hanging in there though :D and in the end it will all be worth it.... :nurse:

Finals are right around the corner and I know we're all a little antsy but I am fortunate to have wonderful people in my section now and although I am sad to lose some of them (I am positive we will all be split intentionally or unintentionally with schedules and available slots) but look forward to next term! :heartbeat

I am in N&W but I can definitely see the issue with having young children. Thanksfully my son is 11 and likes to sleep in until noon...lol...so he will only be awake for a few hours and then I will be home after clinicals Saturday and Sunday. Eventhough N&W only choose between two clinical sites, we are all secretly planning as well. I guess this is where the fun parts fof being a nurse begin.
