FSCJ/FCCJ spring 2011 hopefuls

I scanned the threads and didn't see one for this class set up yet. I'm applying at the end of the semester. Anyone else?

Yes pick up a packet from the nursing office or send me a private message with your email address and I can email it to you. I have a copy saved on my PC. Fill it out and turn it in with your printed transcript and a copy of your NAT results. The cut off for the Spring 2011 was around 194, but the Fall 2010 cutoff was 202.38. I retook my NAT and finished Micro and brought my points up by 29 (my NAT was an extra 17 points when I retook it the 2nd time). All I can say is it won't hurt you to take it for the 2nd time. You never know those few extra points can really make a difference. No one can ever tell what the cut off will be per semester. You do know the summer term is only daytime classes right? There aren't any N&W classes for summer. I say bite the bullet take the NAT again. More than likely you will do better the 2nd time around which would probably guarantee your spot.. :)

How can I tell what my score was when I got accepted? Is it stated somewhere? I just threw everything together and hoped for the best. Also, I am a N&W student, will my summer classes be during the day? I need to know this to work out with my employer.:) Thanks!

Specializes in none.

As far as I know, they don't tell us our score. You can try to calculate it yourself using the info in the welcome packet, but I know in the past, people who ask get a raised eyebrow and are told, "You got in. It doesn't matter what your score was now." :)

And your nights and weekends classes will stay nights and weekends all 4 semesters unless there's a major problem. They just don't take any first semester students nights and weekends on that rotating schedule.

They gave me 4 credits for BSC2580 (or whatever it is). Im just ticked b/c I got an A in my lab class and they gave me 4 credits for the B in lecture. So I got 4 credits but the A in lab was not acknowledged

So it looks like you received 12 points for this class then. That's not bad but I can see your frustration.

You need to add up your total points for your classes which are listed on the nursing packet, then total up your NAT test. Fourth column is "Academic Aptitude - Total" two to the right is "Reading Comprehension" followed by "Information in the Natural Sciences". Take the Raw score at the top of each of those columns and add together. ie: 63 + 33 + 79 = 175. Take that and multiply by .64 (175 x .64 = 112). That is your NAT score. Now take your NAT score and add it to your points from your classes and you will have your final score. :)

I am a N&W person too and all semesters will remain N&W, we will not have any daytime classes at all other than our normal daytime Saturday schedule.

If you haven't purchased a stethoscope yet, here is a link to the stethoscope forum.

For 2011, is the fscj summer term doing nights and weekends for the Nursing program and what is the lowest gpa, score that they might take?

For 2011, is the fscj summer term doing nights and weekends for the Nursing program and what is the lowest gpa, score that they might take?

For the 2011 Summer term nursing program they are only doing Daytime classes and they will be held at the North Campus. Fall 2011 will have a daytime AND night and weekend schedule.

As for the GPA, they do not factor your GPA only what your points are from your grades on your prerequisites and your NAT scores. Also if you have any experience as a CNA or LPN they will give you 5 extra points per year. If you look at the Nursing application it will explain what points will count towards your acceptance into the program. For Fall 2010 the lowest score you could receive and still get into the program was 203.24. For Spring 2011 it was 194 I believe. Hope this information helps!

The cutoff for fall was only 201, and they actually dont count CNA experience. Just LPN, Med assistant and Military medic. An if you are an LPN or med asst, you have to have been trained at FSCJ

I thought it was 203...? My bad...lol I swore someone said they got extra points for being a CNA, but yes you are right! The front of the nursing application says, FSCJ-trained Medical Assistant, EMT, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, LPN or Medical Corpsman. And it has to be withitn the past 5 years.

So there is no N/W for Summer 2011? Where is N/W Fall 2011 going to be? Is it at the North Campus?

Thanks.

so there is no n/w for summer 2011? where is n/w fall 2011 going to be? is it at the north campus?

here are the exact words copied from my email from one of the employees of the fscj nursing program:

"we do not offer evening and weekend every semester. [color=#632523]the next semesters for evening and [color=#953735]weekend are spring 2011, [color=#4f81bd]summer 2011 daytime only, [color=#953735]evening/weekend fall 2011, spring 2012, summer 2012, fall 2012 day time only."

so the next n&w term will be in fall 2011, spring 2012 and summer 2012. if you begin the program n&w then you will remain n&w all the way through. the fall 2011 n&w will be at deerwood. but on mondays which are test nights you will have to go to the north campus 6-8pm to take all of your tests.

Thanks Melissa. I'm upset that summer does not have weekends and evenings. I have to continue to work or I would not be able to do the nursing program. I am at a deadlock now, almost about to obtain my AA but I want to get into the program. Do you know the cutoff points for the fall 2011 and any other info would be helpful. I want to still apply to the summer so I am taking the NAT. Any study tips for the NAT test would be helpful also.....nervous!
