U.S.A. Florida

I scanned the threads and didn't see one for this class set up yet. I'm applying at the end of the semester. Anyone else?

Can I get everyone opinion on something??

Im trying to get my BLS, and there is a class at Northeast Florida State Hospital in Maclenny on friday. But heres the catch, its at MIDNIGHT

I cant do it during the day b/c of childcare, so Im faced with the idea of going into a Mental hospital in the middle of the night in an area that Im not too familiar with. My husband thinks its a bad idea, but its only $20. Im not paying $60 to take it at Memorial hospital or something.

All opinions and experiences welcome

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Your safety is priceless. There are more affordable places besides Memorial.

In another post, someone said they used "Sally Serna for my BLS class and it was pretty quick and cost 25 bucks! Her number is 904.731.8230."

I did a WP reverse look-up and it came up:

Taylor Care Center

6535 Chester Ave

Jacksonville, FL 32217

A little further research shows that it's a retirement community with an on-site nursing facility. Maybe this could be an option for you.

I went to see Sally Serna. It was to the point and painless! She does the class out of her home.

Okay, I called that number and left a message. how long are her classes? Does anyone know her schedule b/c I couldnt find anything

her class was like 2.5 hours or so...she does it in the evening..she's good about returning calls. if you need the class ASAP, she'll work with you..

Awesome! Thanks everyone. Ill probably just do that. I will need an evening class for sure. Im challenging the CNA exam tomorrow and a job interview for a patient sitting position on Friday, so maybe she'll have something Wednesday or Thursday evening.

I love the one at Northeast Florida State Hospital. They do the CPR class in a separate part of building and it only took about two hours. Weird that it is at midnight. Mine was at like 8 in the morning. It is right off the exit though, so you should not get lost.

Hi gbullinger, that was your quote I used...:lol2:

Thanks for following up and adding to it...I will definitely check Ms Sally out for my BLS certification.

Yeah the guy said it was a 3rd shift class which was what he was working. he said we'd be in and out quickly. I have family in MacClenny so I know the area fairly well. My biggest concern is driving home all the way to Argyle Forest at 3 in the morning, and then having to get up with my kids at 730 after being up most of the night

Irish nurse,

Sorry to hear about your letter :( you have a great attitude about it though- it is true, everything happens for a reason.... Best of luck at SJRCC

Curious that only one person has received anything (that has posted at least)... suspense is killing me over here!

i haven't received anything either:( ive been checking my email and these forums almost hourly:P nothing from my mail man either:(

Specializes in none.

The wait is definitely crazy making. Try to distract yourself if you can. I'm going to go to the movies tomorrow. Maybe it will be there when I get home. :)
