FSCJ Fall 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everyone!! I just wanted to start a new topic since it doesn't seem there are any discussions yet about anyone who is applying to the Nursing program for Fall 2012. I'm a little nervous right now b/c I will still be enrolled in Micro when I apply. Without Micro I will have a 189. I'm still going to apply (with my fingers crosse) in hoped I get in or even get a call from someone denying. If I end up with at least a B I'll have 201 total points. From what I've read a 201 should be guaranteed but then I'd have to wait until Spring. Fingers crossed a 189 w/o Micro will be enough for Fall! I'm so ready to start this program. Nervous & excited. Any tips/pointers would be greatly appreciated =)

@OliviaAnn, Im also taking the NAT on the 31st!!!! ;) I do not know of any online practice exams off the top of my head, but I do recall someone on another thread listing a website for a practice test, so im sure if you search the threads your bound to stumble upon something good. As for Math, Henry Ford Community College has a good practice test that I found to be similar to the actual NAT exam. It really prepared me for the math portion. For everything else, I studied from the Arco Nursing School and Allied Health Entrance Exams 18th ed; and I did "ok" for my first time around with little studying.

Thank you liamsmomma!

I hope I do well! Good luck to all of you here!

Does anyone know where or if you can take practice tests for NAT online? I'm re-taking the NAT on the 31st before I turn in my application and I did not do very well on the first test so any advice I can get would be so helpful!!

Someone shared this website with me a while ago. I never used it because I got the practice book but it might be worth a shot!

Just took the NAT today. I did okay on it but I'm not sure my total number of points from my pre-reqs yet. Should be turning in my application tomorrow. :) Do you know when in July we'll find out who got in (towards the beginning or by the end of the month)? Also, how many seats do they have for the Fall? Lastly, if I were to get accepted for the Fall days schedule, would I be able to switch to nights and weekends in the Spring when it's offered again? So many unanswered questions! LOL! Good luck to all of you!

Hello all, I am also applying for the fall ADN program and was wondering where is the most inexpensive place to obtain all the required shots and physical if accepted? I also found this somewhere online about the numbers accepted into each session:

[h=2]February 16, 2011[/h][h=3]ADN update re admission equalization[/h]The ADN program will equalize admissions effective August 2011. The program will admit 144 students in August, January and May. Prior to Fall 2011, 168 students were admitted in the Fall term, 144 in the Spring Term (January) and 96 generic students and 24 LPN/Paramedic Bridge students to the May (Summer) term. We hope this equalization will assist both the school and our clinical partners in better utilizing our faculty and facility resources. Your feedback is welcome! Thank you.

Ok, just took the NAT and applied today! I am so hoping I get in this term! A little worried since I'm taking micro and humanities this summer so those course points are not applied to my final grade! Still have a 188.48... I guess we'll see!

Retook the NAT and got 13points higher, so I'm applying with 206 points.

Any one know what the prior year cutoff's have been?

i applied for spring with 188 points (prior to Micro) and didn't get in. I pulled an A in Micro and re-took the NAT and now re-applying for fall with 206. Best of luck!!

Hi everyone! So excited to get to know some of my future classmates (fingers crossed)! Took the NAT today didn't do as well as I hoped but should be good enough. Hand delivered my application 200.64 total points hopefully enough for days.Last few terms I heard the cutoff was around 195 points so you should be"golden"! Good luck to everyone! Let's keep in touch.

I think I did a board search a few weeks ago and the cutoff for Fall 2011 was 199.xx. I'm applying with 204 points so hopefully we both should be good to go!

I guess that means I'll have to wait until Spring so my micro and humanities class points will count. :/ Ohh well. I guess I'll see what happens.... Good luck to everyone.

When I turned mine in yesterday, the lady looked it over to make sure it was all there and I had nights/weekends marked as my 2nd choice since I prefer days and she said that they weren't offering nights again until Spring 2013. Not sure if you want to check on this...seems like each person in the office tells you something different. Very annoying!

And yes, I definitely agree about the fast forward button![/quote

FSCJ is one of the school I thinking of applying too but its so far like 1 hour plus , however it seems to be the only one with a possible 6-10 schedule. Concerning the times here is a copy of an email I got directly from C.J :

"Students must attend during the times available. The program is not part-time nor full time.

1. Class and clinical schedules will vary and students SHOULD NOT make work or other commitments until the semester begins and schedules have been finalized.

2. Class Instructors and clinical facilities are subject to change. Listing an instructor's name or a clinical facility in no way obligates the college to provide said instructor or facility.

3. Typically, Daytime classes are offered during the daytime (8 am-6 pm). However, it may be necessary to schedule classes during the evening, e.g. 6 pm - 9 pm.

4. Typically, Evening/Weekend classes are scheduled from 6 pm - 10 pm weeknights and clinicals from 7 am - 7 pm on weekends. But, it may be necessary to attend some scheduled activities such as course testing/special events and/or clinical site orientation during the day. Orientation to clinical agencies is an agency requirement and may be scheduled daytime, nights, or weekends.

6. Clinical experience requires students to be prepared which necessitates going to the hospital on the day before clinicals to obtain the assignments (Applies to both Day and Evening/Weekend students). Clinical hours may vary due to holidays and students are expected to adjust their personal schedules accordingly.

7. Sections with a small number of registered students are subject to cancellation. Students so impacted will be reassigned to another section with the goal of achieving successful program objectives and meaningful student learning.

8. All student testing is scheduled during out of class time on Mondays. ALL TESTING IS ON MONDAY FOR DAY AND WEEKEND/EVENING STUDENTS."
