FSCJ Fall 2014 hopefuls

Published

Hello everyone, I did not see a post for the fall 2014 semester, so I wanted to get it started. I applied to the 2014 summer semester and now I am waiting on my acceptance or denial letter. I am starting this forum just in case i do not get in for the summer. My total score right now is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I am currently taking statistics and humanities, in hope of getting an A in both of them to boost my score up to 178.96. I made a C in A&P 1, my first humanities class and PSY1012. I also made a B in college algebra and that is what got my score down so low. I hope that the low cut off score trend continues to give me a good chance of getting in. The last 3 semesters were 175.96, 187 and 187. I am preparing to retake the NAT in late May to be in time for the June 1st deadline with plenty of time to study for the NAT. I look forward to meeting you all, and hear how things are going for you, so we can encourage and support one another.

Okay. So many questions here and not enough time to go back and quote them all, so I'll answer what I remember seeing.

Switching: You would have to find someone from the other program to switch with but once you do, that's it. But you have to go to them and get it approved!

Khakis and blue polos: Get the khakis anywhere. Must be pants. No shorts. Blue polos: They should be selling them at orientation most likely, otherwise, you order them online or go to that place and I have no idea where it is.

Those of you who haven't received your packet: Yes, they often send out in increments and yes, if you know your score is higher than some of those that have received packets, then you should be in unless you didn't fill out your app correctly or there was some other problem.

Stethoscope: I went ahead and got the Littmann Cardiology III stethoscope. Stethoscope Sale - 3M Littmann Stethoscopes - Medisave USA has them for the best prices. I know there are others that are acceptable but I don't know the names. I went ahead and bought a great one now and it should last me several years. Everyone's financial situation is different but trust me when I say, I am broke and I still managed to get that one.

As far are the dates you're talking about...obviously, I don't have your packet, but I would THINK the July 25th is the date you need to accept your seat..you call and leave a message stating who you are, day/night, and that you accept or decline your seat, and the August 8th date should be the day you turn in all your health paperwork. Read your packets carefully, but timeline wise, that seems about right.

Also, BUY A DAY PLANNER! Do it now and get used to writing what is due when!!! Keep records for yourself of what you did and when, what you turned in and when...use the calendar as another way of checking off what is due in your packet!!!

Congrats again, everyone, and feel free to keep asking questions. We'll be here as much as possible. Luckily, you caught us on a rare not swamped weekend! LOL!

Thank you so much for answering those questions!

After a nice long beautiful day of fishing I came home to a large white envelope in my mailbox. I'm in for days!!!

Is someone able to set up a Facebook group for our class?

Congratulations!!! I'm jealous about fishing...hope you caught a bunch.

? About the uniforms. It stays we must have the stuff by August 25th but then it says Meridys won't ship it till Sept 14. Am I reading this wrong? It makes no sense.

No. My husband stole them all .

Are they khaki scrubs? Or dress pants?

You won't need your whites until at least 4-6 weeks into the program so if Meridy's won't ship them until September 14th then that should be fine. However, do yourselves a favor and DON'T order the pants from Meridy's!

Dressier pants...like Dockers

Do anyone know the times and days of the nights and weekend program?

You'll find that out at orientation. For our first term we had tests on Mondays and classes Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. Some of the classes may not meet every week.

Remember that NOTHING is ever set in stone with this program so you will need to be flexible!

And on the uniforms are they really fitted like the Grey's anatomy scrubs? Or more relaxed like Cherokee? I may just call and see if I can get the actual measurements for them since the size chart doesn't help much

Where did you get your pants from?
