Hello everyone, I did not see a post for the fall 2014 semester, so I wanted to get it started. I applied to the 2014 summer semester and now I am waiting on my acceptance or denial letter. I am starting this forum just in case i do not get in for the summer. My total score right now is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I am currently taking statistics and humanities, in hope of getting an A in both of them to boost my score up to 178.96. I made a C in A&P 1, my first humanities class and PSY1012. I also made a B in college algebra and that is what got my score down so low. I hope that the low cut off score trend continues to give me a good chance of getting in. The last 3 semesters were 175.96, 187 and 187. I am preparing to retake the NAT in late May to be in time for the June 1st deadline with plenty of time to study for the NAT. I look forward to meeting you all, and hear how things are going for you, so we can encourage and support one another.
Yes you can go to a slanting or care spot and get the titers done. A lot of the us from my MA class had to do that. And it took a couple of days to get the results
My doctor office just gets booked so thats good. Do the titers count for the record of shots or do we still need shot records

Titers are not records of shots. Titers are the levels that are present in your blood. If you had the immunizations before and have those records, yes, get them, they are good to have, but either way, the titers must be run and the lab report MUST show the levels not a simple "Yes" or "No" as to whether that antibody is in your system. The immunizations you do receive will need to be filled out by the doctor and there is a spot on the form you will get in your acceptance packet for all of those dates and immunizations.
And yes, as stated above, you can go to a Care Spot for a physical and the titers, and you can also go to a Quest Diagnostics/LabCorp for titers as well.

Is it necessary to get any records of past immunization. That might be hard to. I have no idea if my current primary care doctor has records of that or not.

Necessary? No. But if you get the titer and the antibody is still in your system and you DON'T need the immunizations, then you need to try and have an idea of when you had the immunizations to have something to fill out on the form, but an exact date or proof? No.
I will say though that most people who previously had immunizations still had to get a booster because the levels were too low.
So you have to go get your levels tested then wait a few days to get the results then get the booster..wow this is so scary to think about how little time we will have to do this. I might be quitting my nanny job spontaneously. Ifeel bad for that family. I told them I was waiting till spring to apply bc I didnt want them finding someone else in case I didn't get in. I thought I would be able to give them plenty of notice if I did get in...oh well

Yes. That is correct. What I would do is call the labs like Quest Diagnostics and Lab Corp and see how soon their turn around is especially if you do not get your letters soon.
I still think you all will have 2-3 weeks to do it, because next term does not start until August 25, so if you go to the right places and there are no hiccups *crosses fingers*, you have plenty of time even if you don't get your letters until August. That's all we had...three weeks.. and some had less if they got their packets late or got a call that someone lost or declined their seat. Those late comers were not given extra time.
Also, check with your doctor to make sure they have the immunizations on hand. The day my friend and I got our titers, we had to go back a week later to get our results then wait another 3-4 days for some of the boosters to come in. Some places have them all on hand at all times, so sometimes your doctor's private practice is not always the route to go.
It IS a lot to do in a very short amount of time and there is a reason for this...they are training you right from the start...nursing is fast-paced, highly demanding, unforgiving of deadlines, and ever changing. It CAN be done though. Prioritize and manage your time but believe me when I say there is NOTHING you can do to get a head start except maybe calling around to see if your doctor gives immunizations and if they have them on hand.
One more thing...sorry....Do not listen to your doctor if they say you don't need something. They do not know what they're talking about. Our doctor tried to tell us that the report stating that we had had immunizations in the past was sufficient as was the lab report that just said, "Antibody present" was enough. It is not!! GO BY THE PAPERWORK IN YOUR PACKET! Luckily, we called and clarified but all the clarification we got was, "What does the packet say? Okay. Then THAT is exactly what you need."
Follow the directions and you're fine. lol
In regards to your job, you have to do what you have to do. I quit my job almost a month before school even started because I was so busy getting everything that finished that had to be done BEFORE school began.

Im okay with having 2 weeks to do it..I was just worried about having only a week. Like if we didnt get our letters untill the end of the first week of August
I hope they mail them out before August 1st, although that's currently the rumor circulating -- that they are being mailed out then. I take those things with a grain of salt though because we were told we wouldn't hear anything for 8 weeks and we heard after 5, which I realize doesn't help you guys out in the slightest. Massages, alcohol, meditation, pedicures...do something to relieve the tension until then. I promise that this will be over soon and you'll be so busy getting things done, you'll forget all about how stressed you were while waiting.
