FSCJ Fall 2014 hopefuls

Published

Hello everyone, I did not see a post for the fall 2014 semester, so I wanted to get it started. I applied to the 2014 summer semester and now I am waiting on my acceptance or denial letter. I am starting this forum just in case i do not get in for the summer. My total score right now is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I am currently taking statistics and humanities, in hope of getting an A in both of them to boost my score up to 178.96. I made a C in A&P 1, my first humanities class and PSY1012. I also made a B in college algebra and that is what got my score down so low. I hope that the low cut off score trend continues to give me a good chance of getting in. The last 3 semesters were 175.96, 187 and 187. I am preparing to retake the NAT in late May to be in time for the June 1st deadline with plenty of time to study for the NAT. I look forward to meeting you all, and hear how things are going for you, so we can encourage and support one another.

Good, I looked at the packet and there's no way the way they show us to compute our grades is correct. I did it the exactly by example and max amount of points was in the 90's and it's supposed to come out to 120 according to the packet.

Ok thanks for the update. If you receive any packet info do you mind forwarding me an email at [email protected]? I am still waiting to hear back from Ms. James myself. I guess she is waiting on the new info. If I hear anything I will keep everyone posted. Everyone is getting conflicting information. I don't see why it won’t be the HESI since that is the only test they are offering.

Everyone please read, I just got off the phone with Angie S at north campus and she said the new packet that was sent out needs to be trashed, as of this morning her supervisor had her pull the packet due to errors. She said she will have to re-email the updated packet once complete. I also asked her about the fall letters and she said we really won't be getting then until around the first week in August due to the nursing office being backed up with the new packetfor 2015/2016 . She also said the spring deadline is 8/1- Oct. So they start accepting them as soon as 8/1 but we have until OCT to get them submitted for spring 2015. She said she does know it will still be the HESI for spring but the rest if the criteria is now being worked on due to errors.

Thanks

I went by the office this morning and talked to both Ms James and Ms Shrowder and this is exactly what I was told. Everyone who submitted applications for the Spring 2015 term will be receiving their applications back, because there are too many errors in the application. Also, make sure that your CPR card is through the American Heart Association and it says Healthcare Provider on it. It must include adult and child with AED. If it does not, your application will be considered incomplete. Also as far as the issue with the chemistry credits (for those of us who took a 4 credit chemistry course) Ms James is not sure yet if they are going to count all chemistry courses as only 3 credits. She is waiting to her back from someone who will be telling her how to handle that.

Will chemistry without a lab be accepted. Do we need advanced life support or will basic be okay...so im guessing the deadline is officially October 1st

We might only have a week to get pur stuff together

If anyone gets the next new packet please let us know so we can email it to each other so everyone gets the newest information possible. The beauty of this discussion board to inform the masses lol.

Is it possible that they will make the start date later? Because they have to wait for us to respond so that they can move to the wait list, don't they?

I didn't think to ask if a chemistry with a lab is necessary but i am assuming that it is not required being that the application says that they will accept any college level chemistry. The only thing about chemistry she was unsure of is if they will count the 4 credit hour chemistry courses as it is or only 3 credit hours. As far as the life support, she did not understand my question so i do not know.

that is a great question that I unfortunately do not know the answer to.

That's one of my concerns as well. If we aren't notified until the first week of August, when will orientation be held? From the previous terms, the requirements of the packet must be completed prior to orientation which is typically held several weeks before the term starts (I thought). This is becoming a scary thought process. I don't understand why the changes for Spring 2015 are effecting the Fall 2014 cohort. If we aren't accepted for the Fall 2014 cohort, we are still required to meet the requirements for Spring 2015, so why delay the current applicants.

Has anyone been told a date for orientation or the first day of class? I asked the secretary when I turned my app in at the end of May and she said "normally" class begins the last week of August but she was still unclear of an orientation date. My SIL is in the summer class and was at the orientation, that a previous poster commented on, and had to reorganize her plans around starting class a week sooner then anticipated. I have emailed the nursing admin and only been told about receiving letters the first week of August.

Attempting to plan out how my August will go between work and school.

I agree it is very confusing. But, someone previously posted that their classes started a week early and are ending a week late. So I am assuming that means the dates are more flexible than general education classes. Either way, I am sure we will be running on a tight schedule within a small window of time.
