Hello everyone, I did not see a post for the fall 2014 semester, so I wanted to get it started. I applied to the 2014 summer semester and now I am waiting on my acceptance or denial letter. I am starting this forum just in case i do not get in for the summer. My total score right now is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I am currently taking statistics and humanities, in hope of getting an A in both of them to boost my score up to 178.96. I made a C in A&P 1, my first humanities class and PSY1012. I also made a B in college algebra and that is what got my score down so low. I hope that the low cut off score trend continues to give me a good chance of getting in. The last 3 semesters were 175.96, 187 and 187. I am preparing to retake the NAT in late May to be in time for the June 1st deadline with plenty of time to study for the NAT. I look forward to meeting you all, and hear how things are going for you, so we can encourage and support one another.
are you sure about this..that seems illegal...when i asked last year they said they based it strictly on points. I think they could get sued if they stated the cut off was such and such and people below the cut off didn't get in because of a geographic location. Where you live doesnt even determine poverty level or anything. I would sue them if they did that. Its simply not right
Im not sure who you talked too but this is not true. They DO admit Duval County residents first and nassau 2nd and then clay and st johns students. If you live in clay or st johns you better have super high score in order to get in. As far as living in Duval county you are admitted based on a point system and then they cut it off. thats it. I think that lady just did not make sense or did not know how to explain it properly.

I am literally sitting on the St. Johns County line and living at the beach. I am not sure what in the world this would have to do with me NOT being accepted other than living further away from the campus. I think its simply unfair to grant someone acceptance to a limited access program simply based on where the student may live. My address on both my application and my transcripts is my permanent Florida residence. I had to move from New York 3 years ago because I was unable to get my student loans there because I was not a permanent resident for more than 12 months since I had moved to that state. Now that I am here it seems like the thing that is holding me back from my dream is being in the wrong county.
I thought only the NAT was for nursing the HEISI for all other health occupations? I'd be paying out of pocket to retake that F in precal, a class that's not a pre-req or under a declared major since I've finished my AA and I'm not in the nursing program, so I have no major as of now. I had to pay for Micro and Nutrition out of pocket spring '13 because I finished my AA in fall '12. I apparently made too much last year waiting tables so I don't qualify for financial aid anymore.. But being out of school for a year and non stop working just to stay busy and afloat, I guess that happens? Though I have nothing to show for it now. I'm having to come to terms with student loans, but really trying to wait until I'm in the program before I do, not to pay for a class I don't need- but would open my options to getting in at other school that are way more expensive...or try to get my bachelors in Health Occupations or Management, raise my GPA, and then bridge over to BSN-RN, which I heard is easier, but longer. The LPN program for the spring is nights and weekends only, so that would put me out completely as a waitress, but the bridge over to the BSNRN is easier there as well. Pay bills without as much loans and keep my job on the weekends is what I hoped to do as long as I could in the nursing program. The struggle is real haha I just hoped I wasn't going to be deal with as much struggle before I got into the program. I'd rather hear "No" once I got into the program and tried my very best, not at the door.
I have a bachelors degree in psychology and cant find a job because I already have a degree and had to take a bunch of the pre reqs (i didnt have a lot surprisingly) and had to pay out of pocket...i only work part time as a nanny and tutor...ive looked for full time nanny jobs and full time jobs in general. I go on inteviews and never get hired. I understand..fscj didnt required nutrition. did you just take it for unf or ju...i know fscj's bachlor program requires nutrition but not there as program. I still have to take it. If i dont get in I plan on taking it in the spring. I also might take another humanities class (so i can replace my b with an a unless they dont look at it with the new catalog) and i might take chemistry with a lab so i can apply to ju...the HOT is for the other health degrees..hesi is the new test for the nursing program its supposely different from the nat
So here is what I have discovered for everyone who doesn't know. Everything is changing haha go figure. If you are applying for spring 2015 like i am here are some things you should know.1) sociology is out and chemistry with a lab is in for the pre req.
2) the application deadline is October first so it goes from august 1st- October 1st.
3) for people applying for spring 2015 you can be enrolled in microbiology and still apply for the program.
4) You must have taken the hesi a2 exam instead of the NAT. The NAT is not the required test anymore and for anyone who hasn't taken the hesi make sure you study anatomy because that section is rediculous.
i think thats about it, they still havent figured everything out but they claim they will send out the catalog when they do! So I have no idea how the new point system will be. Okay (:
you need chemistry with a lab? I just looked at it yesterday and it says chem 1020 which is chemistry without a lab? for the 2014-2015 catalog at least..where did you get your information from?
I am going to be soo ****** if you need chemistry with a lab for the the spring term. I never took it with a lab. I will have to retake it with a lab in the fall and I would have to wait till next summer to apply. OMG thats rediculous. When they change a catalog they need to give students at least one semester before the application is due so that way people don't take classes they dont need and do classes they do..

I know it stinks, but they do it because there is a SJRCC that offers nursing so I guess they are trying to keep it fair since those students can go there.. I'm not sure but it all comes down to the county you live in. :/ don't worry you still may get in. or you can reapply and move or use a different address?
didnt someone just say that they did away with that starting last term?I know it stinks, but they do it because there is a SJRCC that offers nursing so I guess they are trying to keep it fair since those students can go there.. i do know thats why i didnt apply to sjrcc or wasnt intrested in applying to sjrcc bc they have that rule and i was like ok well i just wont apply then.
You can't replace B's, only C's and lower. And yes I took nutrition for those schools, I'm still leaving my options open for them both, especially with fscj being unreliable with getting info out for new rules and regulations efficiently, even though they're going into effect in less than a year..
