FSCJ Fall 2014 hopefuls

Hello everyone, I did not see a post for the fall 2014 semester, so I wanted to get it started. I applied to the 2014 summer semester and now I am waiting on my acceptance or denial letter. I am starting this forum just in case i do not get in for the summer. My total score right now is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I am currently taking statistics and humanities, in hope of getting an A in both of them to boost my score up to 178.96. I made a C in A&P 1, my first humanities class and PSY1012. I also made a B in college algebra and that is what got my score down so low. I hope that the low cut off score trend continues to give me a good chance of getting in. The last 3 semesters were 175.96, 187 and 187. I am preparing to retake the NAT in late May to be in time for the June 1st deadline with plenty of time to study for the NAT. I look forward to meeting you all, and hear how things are going for you, so we can encourage and support one another.

I just took the hesi exam for spring admissions and i got an overall score of 84%! Is that a good score? Really high, moderate low?

That is pretty good; alot of schools require a 75% for passing. I asked Ms ***** what is the passing score for fscj and she said there is no passing score. Also, she said they only use A&P, RC, Biology and math.

I know it fees like I'm on here a lot but I'm only working 3 days a week. I've been looking for another job. I'm sooo bored. Its making having to wait for these letters to come out so much worse.

That is okay. U can be on here as much as u want :)

The wait is killing me. Out of all semesters this is one I really really wish they make their decisions early. Ugh :(

The application period starts on August 1st and the deadline is October 1st.

Hi, I'm new to the discussion board and all this information is so helpful. I'm not applying for fall but spring 2015 and I'm so excited I can't contain myself lol. I take my Hesi this week and I'm so nervous. I was all ready to take the NAT a few weeks ago and went in and they had changed it 2 days prior. I still would have taken it but it was $95 and I only had the money for the NAT at the time which was 40. I've talked to Ms. ***** about some of the changes and a lot of things are unclear since I think they are trying to get everything in order. However she did say that the prerequisites are still the same but as of Fall 2015 you are no longer able to be enrolled in Micro and apply. It has to be completed as well as all other prereqs. (A&P 1 and 2, Mac 1105, etc). She didn't give much info on the Hesi which I am not surprised about, for some reason FSCJ is really tight lipped about their entrance test and scoring or test tips. If it wasn't for sites like these we all would be lost. Good luck to you guys for the upcoming fall.

I just finished my HESI test this morning too and got a score of 84%. The passing score is 75% in each section which i did but I definitely need to brush up on my biology a little more. The A&P portion was still more biology and just a few A&P questions which I haven't had in 8years whereas I took A&P 2 last semester and got an A. The math is by far the easiest portion basic math skills and the reading is easy as well just answer what they ask and short paragraphs. The science portions are definitely the ones to study for. There are 55 questions of Math and Reading Comp and then just 30 questions for A&P and Biology. I've got to calculate my score now to see if I will be ok to apply for Spring 2015.

I got an 84% as well! How do you calculate your score?

I have no clue how to calculate the score since it will obviously be different than how they scored the NAT. We will also not have a cut off score to base anything off of so it's pretty much going to be winging it. :(

I am gong to wait to take me till after the letters come in. Its soo expensive and I don't want to waste anymore money unless I know I have to. I guess the benefit of taking it before July 1st is that you can retake it before the spring application deadline. I just didn't have the time with work and going out of town. Plus I really don't feel prepared to take it yet. I don't remember anything from my anatomy classes. Was it a really hard test.

It's also July. Has anyone heard when they might be sending the letters. This wait is driving me crazy. Sunday will be 4 weeks. Obviously the mail doesn't come on Sunday. I was thinking maybe a week or two from Monday. I really don't want to wait till August 1st. That is soo far away.

It's not that bad in my opinion because the reading and math are so easy but the science is def harder than what's on the NAT. I'm going to take it again right before the spring deadline to see if I can raise my score a bit. All of my grades are good expect for my two Cs because I suck at English and the development psych class I took in 06 at a 4 yr college as a night class. I wish we were able to retake classes if we have a C cuz I would totally get a A now. My first two years of college right after high school were rough becuz I had to work two jobs to pay for it but because I did I didn't make great grades so now I'm paying for it :( and it hurts my chances at nursing school.
