Frustrated new grad

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

I know I just graduated in may 2013 but at this point I have applied for over 250 jobs in the Chicagoland area. Gone on two interviews, both ended up hiring someone with experience.

I have one year of LPN experience and three years as a tech, none of which seem to help me. AT ALL.

Luckily I can keep my low paying LPN job till I find something, but I'm just really beginning to regret the entire thing.

Sorry to vent.

Is relocation a possibility?

No :( the cost is too high. Plus I need to be here for my parents.

I guess you just have to make choices and I'm choosing to stay! So perhaps it's my own fault that I can't find a job, but I just never imagined it would be this hard.

Don't give up hope. I sent out ovwr 80 apps and have had 5 interviews and 2 job offers it will happen. Have you done extra classes? Like ACLS or PALS?

I haven't. I'm thinking about doing ACLS but am unsure I could pass with no experience reading strips. What do you think?

I'm getting paid very little in my current job and am starting a second job at a bar for extra money soon so hopefully that cash can go toward acls!

When I took ACLS and PALS I did not have any experience reading strips. I did online courses and used a text book but I did pretty well one you understand the rules it gets easier.

Did you do the entire class online and then do the demonstration part in person or did you just review in online courses and then sit for the whole class in person?

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Where in IL do you live? Chicago or downstate?

I graduated in May 2012 and also live in Chicago. I still can't even get an interview. It is tough out there. Thank God I still work in my 1st degree --accounting.

I did my classes in person. But there is online portions that they expect you to do before class. And there are all kinds of review programs for reading strips.
