Marijuana and Nursing School
I for one have never tried it. Been around people who have done it and did not care for their laid back high most of the time. I have seen some react in a erratic way and become violent. Why did I not try it? Because it is illegal and as a professional I respect the law and rules. I can tell you that I have delt with many many people who do pot. I'm a retired police officer and I see what the casual recreational use does. That money you spend where do you think that goes? It trickles down to the major growers and they are some bad dudes. Here is my point, you have decided to go into a very stressful career and you are going to be responsible for people's lives and wellbeing. Find a proper and legal way of dealing with your anxieties or get another career. Personally I would not want someone who takes an illegal substance caring for my love ones. And before you ask, yes I drink alcohol but responsibly and it's legal. I would have problems with a professional who abused it. Those types do not belong in healthcare. Sorry but the reality is once you start consciously disregarding laws it becomes a slippery slope.

Cardiac/Tele Apps
There are several applications iTunes and Google play. You can practice easily when you have a few minutes. Remember regular, rate and measurements. No one will expect you to interpret strips on your own. Practice practice is the key.

Just Got Denied at VA for New Grad Program
Kalvera- I find your attitude a little troubling. I understand you are angry but you are also coming across like your entitled. Yes you are a veteran and are given points towards the application process yet that doesn't guarantee you a job there could be other veterans could be hired above you. As far as your comments towards reservists and National Guard shame on you. I was active, reserves and National most of my fellow troopers were prior service. I have served since 1986 till 2010. I was in Panama and other activities. I flew on an air ambulance for the guard with some of the best medical professionals there are. I was a drill Sargent in reserves. We all did and do our jobs.

How to properly measure intervals in an EKG
As far as measuring out PR intervals I measure the first clear one and then marched them out to check for regularity. Any changes then I started looking for other signs.

How to properly measure intervals in an EKG
Just remember the small boxes are .04sec and the large are .20sec when measuring use a good set of calipers. In a pinch I use a post it note and mark for measurements. In the ICU where I used to work as a Tele Tech I had software that measured. Its important to look for ST changes and QT elongation. If your other measurements are not coming out exact as either software or another RN reading it is probably not a big deal as long as you're looking for those changes stated above. I always had the charge nurse look at any I had questions or concerns or I spoke to one of our cardiologists. It's more of the nurses responsibilities to look at the whole picture for changes.

Can you get into Nursing School with an "Expunged" criminal record in California?
That one will be tough. Best to speak to an attorney and the BON.

Pearson Vue Trick and Official Results.
As far as I have researched the trick works. There has been some who get like a pending result but that is because there is a problem with their paperwork. Congratulations!

Nclex prep-only read the correct answer?
I don't think that would help since the test questions are not found anywhere else. So memorizing answers won't help. You need to understand what the question is actually asking and choose the best answer.

Question about nursing in Australia: opportunities
Hello, as I read these posts I'm wondering about opportunities for nursing in Australia. I know line everywhere else in the world the so called shortage just doesn't seem to be there. My question is this: would you think that an foreign nurse such as me from the US would have a better chance of getting a nursing position of I looked outside the usual places, such as Sydney and Melbourne? My back ground is Emergency/ Trauma / Critical Care. Living in Australia has been something I've have wanted to do since I was a teenager. I went to Australia for about a month when I was in the army and I found the people amazing and warm. In some ways a lot similar to Americans but different in good ways. I'm in no rush to go so I can do this as time warrants. Thank you for reading my post.

emergency prepared
You did great stopping to help. However, with t a trauma such as this I would have had him lie still and held C-spine and applied pressure to the head wound. Giving aspirin could have been the wrong course of action because he could have a brain bleed due to the head trauma. Also NPO on fluids because of mechanism of injury and you wouldnt have known about internal damage. You did the best thing by just being there and available to him until EMS arrived.

47.5 on hurst qreview totally devastated
Yes there still is. Work through the practice questions and make sure you are under standing what they are asking. Get your self an NCLEX MADE EASY book and take their tests. The seem a littler easy and are more nursing knowledge versus theory. I scored better and remained my confindence. Do about 100 question a night between the two books. Then night before no books relax an get some rest and go into the test confident that you will pass. Worked for me.

- A little too proud to be a nurse?
There is nothing wrong with being proud of what you do. Makes you sometimes wish there were more. I make fun of the local fire fighters for always having some kind of FD stuf. But is done in a loving way. I - A little too proud to be a nurse?
