Hi, Is there anyone out there who has applied to the FNP program for Frontier Bound in June? Looking for potential classmates and support while waiting to see if we're accepted. Good luck everyone!
Hi all! I have not applied yet, but plan to apply to the FNP program at FNU. I have to take the assessment course and will start that in July. I am stalking boards and trying to see how the admission process goes and learn more about the types of applicants that get accepted. Even with a 4.0 in my BS degree and a 3.6 in nursing, I'm just nervous about applying. I have been a nurse for 10 years but I have had a varied work experience from a ob/gyn triage nurse, to a Director of IT Applications, to a Director of Quality. I'm just not sure what they look for. I haven't been at the bedside in years but I am currently working in primary care in a consulting role. When I talked to the admission counselor today, she said that there is no requirements regarding recent bedside hours as long as you've been a nurse for 1 year. Still makes me nervous.
I love to read what others experience is and get really excited when I see others that are admitted. I was looking at lots of state schools, but once I found Frontier it just feels like I'm meant to go there - hard to explain.
Good luck to everyone! Can't wait to see your admissions roll in. Do all of you have really recent clinical experience or do you have a varied background like me?
I'm fresh. Just past my one year mark. I'm working in postpartum/nursery. I did pretty well in school and I feel like my essays were pretty good. I know that my references said good words, but they weren't from advanced practice RN's as I don't really know any here. We came to NC from IN just for the job and I work nights so it's hard to meet and work with anyone besides my fellow night shift nurses. I hope it was enough to make the cut. If not I'll try again in a few years probably :)
I think we all have doubts regardless of being fresh or weathered. I started as a CNA, then went on for my LPN. After years as an LPN, I decided to go back for my RN and then Bachelors. I've worked LTC, med-surg (as a staff nurse, then charge), case-management, and as an instructor for the past few years. I don't have a lot of volunteer experience. My references were from a doctor, a NP, and one of my nursing instructors. I have also worked with all of them for years and have known most of them since childhood. I worked really hard on my essays, but how good they are is subjective. My GPA is a 3.9. My husband is retired military and will be able to help with the kiddos. I plan on going full-time and not working. Hopefully this plan works out.
I also have read EVERY thread on Frontier. Some multiple times. I decided back in LPN school that I wanted to go to Frontier. It has just taken me a lot longer than I planned to get here.

My phone ran out of battery today at work because I was checking it over and over and over! This wait is painful. Trying to stay busy, getting ready to bake chocolate pies. Might as well eat, lol. Tomorrow I have to go to a class for work all day long! How am I going to even concentrate! I'll be running to the bathroom to check my email all day! Thanks for the research, maybe we'll find out tomorrow.
