i just have been thinking about those individual nurses who i knew in the past that no longer work at my hospital. sure do wish i could see them again, but lost track and mourn their loss.
there's the gal who had an abusive husband and moved up to far alaska with her kids. i miss her sweet smile and show of support, my being a newby at the time.
there's the nurse who, when in my pass life as a cna, was kind to me and taught me diverse things about nursing. two times i've had patient's with a temperature that would not go down despite any medical interventions were with her, oddly! i found out that her grandchild had ca and then she stopped working and i lost track of her. i miss her too!
any buds you mourn and wish they could be seen once again?!

There was a guy Kevin who made us all laugh hysterically when he came in. He went to Ohio State to work. Then there is a girl April, whom I loved getting into trouble with. Miss her a lot. Talked to her frequently right after she left but we have since lost track of each other. I miss her too. Funny that it just takes a phone call but we are so busy it does not seem to happen.

We often talk about Mary LVN and Dottie, our clerk who retired the same year and moved closer to grandchildren.
Larry worked as a secretary in the summers and weekends while in medical school. He and his RN wife moved for his internship and we never saw them again. I bet he is a great doc.
Two great nurses went to anesthesia school moved across the country. We e-mail each other.
And Gail, our CNA who could have been a professional comedian! What a clever and kind person!
Missed greatly.
Over the decades too many have passed away. We think of them often.
I've been blessed to know so many fine people in nursing!

Oh, I am so glad you started this thread. I am from New Orleans and of course no longer had a job after hurricane. I was working at an LTAC in Chalmette (yes, the one that sent the pts to Memorial Med Ctr)
I would give anything just to have one more night with my co workers. Who knew when we walked out of that place Fri morning that we would never work together again? I was there for 6 years and made a lot of friends. Still in contact with a few, but there are some that I never see.
Anyway, life must go on, and I am on the northshore making new memories.
So, anyone here who might recognize this post, hello and love and miss you all!

i love this thread! we had the smallest class--16--when we were in school, and those are the people i miss the most! i talk to a few of them in passing every now and then, but since we graduated and all went our separate ways, we ust don't find the time to call/email. i had one really close friend who passed away a few years out of school due to a car accident. she was the most supportive person ever! anyway, thanks for starting this thread!

Annie, a former factory worker who had lost her job and was retrained by the state to be a CNA because some vocation test said she would be good at it. She was!!
She was kind and gentle with the patients; and never stopped working. I never saw her burnt out or impatient. Our (the nurses) biggest complaint about her was she wouldn't call for help when turning the big patients. I don't know if she's still working in that area of the country; I moved away.
