Stars looking like the storm will miss you, hopefully you don't get too much rain

Dianah I hope Tweety's OK too, I know there was flooding in Tampa

Ado a music festival sounds fun

Work wasn't bad yesterday.  Had to stay a bit late, for our last session the counselor wanted me to do it in person.  Was a good wrap up, with ideas and directions for me going forward.  Rest of the day was pretty ordinary, exercised and rest of the day was quiet

Today should be a rather ordinary day, nothing unusual going on during work or after it

Weather the same today, in the low to mid 70s.  Tomorrow looks rainy so probably no bird watching then

Gouda Aphternoooon~

We had a LOT of rain last night....as a matter of fact, I had to empty the dehumidifier in the middle of the night (and again this morning). I was awakened by Momo barking, she woke me up at 1:30 AM, as she had heard Nannie get  up and close her bedroom door and the bathroom door.....I came downstairs and found her in the bathroom, sitting on the toilet, holding four pads in one hand and a pull-up in her other hand, plus she was wearing a pull-up. She had on the jersey she wore yesterday, and her blazer/jacket, and had already made her bed up. I said "Nannie, it is 1:30 in the morning and NOT time to get up and dressed." I stripped her down and put her pj's back on; she said "Where are we going?"  So I told her "Back to bed. It's the middle of the night." She said "Oh. I didn't know. I'm sorry." and then when I got her back in bed she told me she didn't think she had to sleep. I told her she'd better go to sleep because it was way too early to get dressed, and "This time, stay in bed!"  At least this time she DID stay in bed and sleep!

I got up at 10:30 AM, aching in my hips and knees, so I took my meds and lay back down in bed. Two hours later, Momo started barking again....Nannie was up, sitting in her recliner, watching the wind blow everything around. Soooo, back to the bathroom to wash her up and get her dressed, then out to her chair to have breakfast and meds. I was pleased to see that 1/2 Lexapro in the pre-poured meds was a larger half than just half, so hopefully she will doze off after a while. Right now she is remarking over and over again about how the wind is getting worse and worse. It is vigorous, but it was worse last night. Thankfully we had already had those overhanging branches taken down, so no big limbs in the yard, just lots of leaves. When I told her that we were almost going into the Fall season in a day or so, she was confused, so I then had to explain to her what that meant. "Really?" she said. Yes, Nannie, the leaves fall in the Fall, and we are on the edge of, or at the end of the big hurricane that's been all over the map. It will be blowing all day and maybe rain some more late this afternoon.

Then it was "Are we going anywhere?" No, because there are roads that dip down that are near streams that might be overflowing. On the "Weather On the 1's" they showed places over in Charlotte that were hit hard, with trees over and water all up in the roads, some just a few inches and some at few feet. We ain't a'goin' eeeenywheres!  So it'll be the best thing if she falls asleep again and not pester me about going out somewhere.

I have to go out to get the the trash bins that have been blown over after they had been emptied. ...best do it now so I don't get rained on again, like I did at 11 PM last night when I finally remembered to take the bins out to the end of the driveway. You know, if it wasn't for Nannie semi-freaking out about the weather, I could really enjoy watching things blow around. My mother always had us watching storms and ENJOYING them when we were little, so I am always disappointed when I can't do that. I know that once I told y'all that I was house-and-dog-sitting for some friends way up on a mountain in WNC and their big Swiss Mountain dog barked EVERY single time it flashed lightening or the thunder rolled. I was kind of pissed that I couldn't stop him from barking, but whaddya gonna do? Oh well. Thank goodness at least Momo doesn't get nervous during storms!

Now it is 2:15 and Nannie has yet to close her eyes.*sigh* I do have clothes and towels to fold from the dryer, and of course, the ever collecting dishes and glasses in the kitchen sink. If Nannie does doze off I can also go back upstairs and continue weeding out more donations, and some more things to be trashed.

Meanwhile.... will check in with y'all later on.

PS: The temp outside is in the 80's, so the wind is VERY warm. Not complaining, just completing my weather observations!

Hi. It is sunny and breezy here. The wind blew hard last night and I heard several thumps on the roof, but it seemed to be all cones dropping off the spruce trees. The dogs got up on the dining table yesterday and ate some protein bars that were left there. They were acting hyper last night and today have had some uh, digestive issues, some inside. yuck. I took them for a long walk, and now I'm watching a Zoom conference to get some CE credits for Master Gardening.

Joe, I was thinking about you and birds the other day when I was out at the State Park. The migratory waterfowl haven't arrived yet, but I need to remember to take my binoculars the next time I go.

Good afternoon.

All is well.  Sweltering in this house with no air conditioning.  Scored a bag of rare ice at the store and hopefully can keep some of my food fresh.  250,000 people without power and some without drinkable water.

The beaches are devastated by the storm surge which caused the bulk of the damage.  Apparently four people died that chose not to evacuate.  Best friend did not evacuate because he's on the third floor but his car was flooded and now dead.

This fir a storm hundred miles away.

Italy trip for Monday was canceled since my dog sitter can't come until power is restored and his condo flooded on Tampa. Best friend also has to deal with his car and has no power.  Best friend will work with insurance to hopefully get out of the trip.  We met a 72 hour deadline of "cancel for any reason" so we should be covered  And so it goes...we are safe and that matters most.

Thank you for the update, Tweety! I'm glad to read that you and BF are safe. The stories and images in the media are crazy.

Glad to hear you are safe.  I read that there are scores of teams ready and waiting to start repairing lines and restoring power.  I'm prepared to be impressed with how quickly your freezer is up and running again.

I've taken to paying for flight insurance.  We're too old to take anything for granted and it's expensive to just eat those ticket costs.

Darn Tweety. I am sorry to hear that. We are fine in my part of Ocala. 2 hurricanes in the 1 month we have lived here.

I started my new career as the oldest admin ever at a financial services agency. Bored as hell and my butt hurts, but not stressful LOL!

Good to hear you and BFF are safe, though sorry the trip was cancelled.  Just re-schedule to another time, I suppose.  What is the plan for his car?  Does the insurance report it as "totaled?"  Ugh.

I got my flu vaccine today.  Decided, since my body is used to getting it and the Covid booster at different times, I wouldn't change that.  I have a dull headache and am kinda tired but that's all so far.  I did a load of laundry (yet to be folded), and went to the drive-through car wash, then vacuumed it and detailed the inside (to a certain extent.  It's not perfect, but [my mantra] it's better than it was!).  I need to make some sort of meal for us, for the next few days.  Will probably make the "crack slaw," as we haven't had that for awhile, and it's easy (one pot).

We have no plans for the weekend.

Stay safe, y'all!  Have a good evening!
