Dianah I was driving around yesterday and the roads here were pretty quiet

Stars hope she rests most of the day

NJ22 glad the weather was nice

Rose Queen it is an adjustment

Ado sounds like a lot of baking

Hi Tweety

Went out early to do bird watching, but few birds to see and it was cloudy, humid, and lots of mosquitoes

So I wasn't out long.  Instead made 4 dozen chocolate chip cookies, mostly to take to my cousin's tomorrow.  Also made an omelette for breakfast and a hamburger for lunch.  Was going to make cornbread too but decided I'd done enough cooking

Instead I exercised and took it easy most of the rest of the day. Realized I needed to slow down.  Also realized I need to do a better job of calming my anxiety, rather than just trying to think my way out of it.  In addition to practicing mindfulness more faithfully

Glad it's Friday, will start work early again, hopefully for the last time.  The insurance company we work with is closed today so there shouldn't be any new work arriving.  Not much planned after work except an errand or two

Will be about the same as yesterday, will get up to the mid 80s

Good morning!

Rose, sorry for you loss, there's a hole in the heart left for sure.  I remember getting home from work and looking for my late dog more than once.

Neighbors were still making noise at 10pm when I went to bed but must have settled down not long after that.  Looks like we had a good 4th of July here with crowded beaches and lots of people boating and having parties on the boat.

I splurged at work and had some hot dogs and chips.  Someone decided at the last minute we were having a pot luck and I didn't bring anything but enjoyed what a few people brought.  LOL

Have a six-month cleaning happening today and that's about it.  Sheets are in the wash.  I have lunches and dinners made through the weekend.

Have a good day!

Good morning Joe, Tweety and all who come later! Sort of slept in this morning - while they're still adjusting to not being locked in different rooms since there's no longer multiple dietary needs, my younger pair of cats still tell time very well and demand breakfast at 4:30am. So being the good cat human, I got up and fed them at the demanded time and went back to bed. Need to take the car in for routine maintenance this afternoon and drop off my cable box since I decided to cut the cord (again... hopefully it lasts this time because Comcast is greedy!)

Didn't put the trash barrel at the curb because nobody else had their bins out: I hope I don't miss a pick-up because my bin is almost full. I don't know what the schedule is regarding holidays....maybe they'll come tomorrow? I dunno. I should've called to find out; maybe I'll request a schedule from the company that does our trash run.

I woke up VERY reluctantly at 11 AM but got up to take my meds because I was aching; hope they kickin' soon, and I hope the coffee lifts me up a bit, too. I could go back to sleep for two hours if I didn't have to worry about Nannie. Completely forgot to give her the sleeping pill last night, and was worried she'd get up and decide to go outside again like she did the other day, but her bedroom door is closed and there are no sounds coming from her room.

I had multiple, very busy dreams with lots of  people, but I can't remember any actual activity or anything about what was going on. But at least I know that means I slept well because dreams mean REM sleep is happening.

Today's lovely temp is to reach 101 degrees today, (with a 'feels-like' of 107) and there is a 70% chance of rain early this evening.

Have no firm plans, or even tentative plans, for anything today. I was thinking of clearing off the formal dining-room (never used by us) table; stacking and storing the dishes that have been laid out like a magazine spread for the last 8 years. There are also many odds and ends of things placed on the table, so it looks crowded and ridiculously messy. I still am in a mood to start throwing things out again, but we'll see how Nannie's day goes before I set in on anything.

Slowly (reluctantly) clearing the cobwebs from my head...

Well, #*&^. Now we are on a boil advisory as a precaution because of several days with low water pressure. I bought bagged ice (brought in on a truck -- I checked) for the hospital and we have bottled water for the patients. Possibly our filters would be sufficient but they say they "inhibit the growth of bacteria"... they do not claim to filter out bacteria and viruses.

We continued to have rain/clouds/storms overnight and the current temp is only 72! It looks as if it will be stormy and cooler-than-normal much of next week. Not 72, more like mid-80s but still not 101!

This morning before I left for work I had a phone call that I almost didn't answer, but seeing that it had an Indianapolis area code, I thought it possible that it was stepson, so I answered. It was. He started out sounding pretty rational and controlled, but then wandered into some loose associations. His early comments did include apologies for all the horrible things he said to everyone. He said he'd be released from the hospital today but when I talked with his cousin the guardian she had talked with the inpatient unit doctor who said stepson is going to stay through the weekend with a possible discharge date on Monday.

AHHHH-HAAAA!! I actually DID go into the 'formal' dining-room and dismantled the Christmas wreaths that have been hanging on the ceiling light and around candles, etc, since we moved in here, LO those many years ago! Everything was good and dusty so I made a lot of executive decisions about what to toss, etc. I have several things set aside in case one of Nannie's kin might want one or two things. Now the table is completely empty of ALL things, including the table cloths, napkins, the table runner, etc. The table is BARE!  I don't  know what kind of wood it is, but the table and the chairs are in good shape and maybe can be sold.

My step-dgt ? Well, I still haven't heard from her since her "it's been sixth months since Daddy passed away" text message. There are a few things she specifically requested way back in October '23. Maybe one day she will remember them.....or not!

I have another box or two of stuff to take to the Battered Women's Shelter's thrift shop. And my trash bins runneth over! BiL needs to bring the junk trailer over so I can start filling it up with things waiting to go to the dump. It isn't that I was eager to start cleaning, just that I got sick and tired of seeing everything piled up in the dining-room. Couldn't avoid seeing it since BiL had taken down the louvered doors between the kitchen and dining-room many months ago.

Nannie has been cooperative by sleeping through all the considerable racket I made upstairs. I'd go back up and do a little more sorting and tossing out from the 'formal' living-room (which has also been closed off) that has been kind of a staging area for things that need to be sorted through.....but the thing is, there are no ceiling fans in either room and it's stuffy up there this late in the day, so I'll save it for another time.

PIN A ROSE ON MY NOSE!  🌹 😇 I got a LOT done today!

Hi. It's a nice 79 degrees here. I took a nice long bike this morning thinking I would need to curtail activities after getting my knees injected today. I got the injections and doc says no activity restrictions, it's not a series of 3 any more, and should last 6 months. Downside is max benefit may take a month to feel. No pain now, but he put in lidocaine, so it will likely be achy when that wears off. I dropped off some eggs for dd, swung by Target to get a new sunscreen to try (they all seem to make me break out), then home to putter around the yard. I moved my orchids out to the front porch, and watered a few pots. It's too hot for me now, to weed the green beans. It can wait.

The fireworks got really loud last night. I went to bed early, but dh said our little dog got very nervous with the big booms. Next year, I get her some doggie downers from the vet. I tried some calming chews we had from the feed store, but she may need something stronger. The bigger dog was fine.

Gad, Annie, that is awful about the water. I hope it gets resolved quickly. And I hope stepson will accept the help he needs.

I agree, Comcast is greedy. I want to switch to Ziply, but youngest son insists that it will be too slow. Comcast gets pretty sluggish in the evenings. We're not going to cut the cord anytime soon, with dh and his sports programming. There are worse addictions.

Oh, my Stars, I am jealous. I love throwing away old dusty stuff! That reminds me, I was going to drop off some books at the "little libraries" that people put up around the neighborhood. Do y'all have those?

Hats off to you bakers! We don't have air conditioning, so the oven will remain off for the time being!

Hello all!

I slept a whopping 1.5 hours last night!  Just could NOT fall asleep.  So, I have taken two naps today, in between going out for dh's burritos from our FAVORITE place, and then later going to the grocery store.  In 103 degree heat.  Yah, it's hot here!  We stay inside, for the most part.

nursej22, hope your knees feel better SOON, and it lasts a long time!

No Stars, Good On Ya, for tackling that dining room table!

Rose, I hope your two drop-off errands went smoothly.  Congrats for cutting that Comcast cable!  We get rabbit ears stations, and all except the two I watch the most do well.  Now, the two I like to watch will either start of heavily pixellated, or will start off OK and then all of a sudden get pixellated, to the point that I can't understand what's being said and I have to just change channels.  It is irritating.  But we don't pay for those channels, so I suppose I can't complain!  We do subscribe to Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Britbox.

Ado, UGH with boiling water!  Hope the situation doesn't last long, what a pain.  Fingers crossed that stepson is helped by this latest admission.

Joe, I hope work was quiet today (it's late in the day, I can say the "Q" word!).  Choc chip cookies sound good!

Tweety, do you work the weekend too?  Kudos for getting all your meals fixed!

Have a good evening!
