It is hot and steamy, after a brief, hard rain. Hubby has gone out to sit in his 'office', the Ford, with the AC running. Nannie is drowsing after her lunch. I need to go get a book. I guess I could drive over to the little library branch and find something...Better do it now and get it over with. Will come by here later.
I went out and bought a wading pool for bathing the doggos. They're not fans of playing in the water ? but maybe it will still feel good to get bathed and cooled off. 97 degrees today.
Twin A made reservations for his solo vacay. He's taking the train to Fort Worth and will visit the Fort Worth zoo. I think he's leaving tomorrow morning and returning Sunday night. For the rest of us it's likely to be an uneventful weekend but maybe I can talk someone into going to a pool. I usually make a red, white, and blue dessert so I'll probably do that.
Stars, I'm still re-reading Harry Potter and I'm in the Goblet of Fire. I also borrowed an e-book (one of the Bones series by Kathy Reichs). I might, really just might, sit with my feet in some cold water in the dogs' pool, and read a book. Make some iced tea ... I'm getting interested in the idea of a weekend here ?
There's one patient on the floor today and I shouldn't get called in to work tonight unless/until there are >4.
The branch library I drove to only had curbside service! How can I peruse book titles from my car? Guess I have to know what book I want, but I don't. So, pooey on them! I drove to the local (smaller than the BIG) mall, to the Books-a-Million (not a very big store like it once was). I got another Gabaldon book, this one about Sir John Grey, who was a character in the series I just finished. Also got a hardback, originally $29, for $7.95. (a mystery by Michael Connelly). So I am happy now! ?
The sun is shining "TOO BRIGHT!" (Nannie's complaint.) We are also having very loud, sharp thunder right overhead, but no rain.
Hubby went to get supper, even though it is only 4:35 PM. There IS a ballgame on tonight, starting an hour earlier than usual, and if they play fast like they did last night, she'll be in bed by 9 or 9:30 PM. I'm not holding my breath...only HOPING intensely!

Another mild day, although a bit humid at 85%. Rode my bike out by the bay. Look to be lots of tourists staying in cabins and condos. Today is Canada Day, and we are so close, that many come down for weekends. That area really suffered during border crossing restrictions, and it is slower coming back. I worked in my garden. I am so sleepy, didn't sleep great last night. Going to get a pedi in a little while, and then maybe pick up something for dinner to grill.

Stars our local libraries offer curbside service, you can check out books online and they'll bring them out to your car. The disadvantage is that you can't peruse the stacks
G'day.
Best friend uses the library online and orders books to be picked up at the local library. I think he goes in to pick them up. (This is Florida where there are 10,000 covid cases a day but in our minds covid doesn't exist so no precautions). This way he can get on a waiting list, or if the local library doesn't have it, they can have it sent over by from a library that has it. Sooner or later I'll get on the library bandwagon myself. I don't think he wonders around the stacks. He will read a review online and decide what to read.
We had a decent day. 4:1 ratio with lots of discharges and admissions.
Hello all.
No Stars, I have some mysteries here that I plan on giving away, I am happy to send them to you, if you will DM me your address. Good you found a couple of books to get you by! Hope the game is good for you all!
Hmmmm, I enjoy looking through the stacks of books myself. Sounds like George has the right idea, to read the reviews then get the book.
I just finished a bio of Louisa May Alcott. I am re-reading one I read many years ago, by Simon Winchester, The Map That Changed the World, about the birth and development of the science of geology, featuring William Smith. Very interesting. Another I have put aside to re-read after it: Longitude: The True Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of His Time, by Dava Sobel.
nursej22, good you got your bike ride in (despite the humidity)!
Ado, sitting and reading with feet in a cool pool sounds great! One year at a bluegrass festival, we had an inflatable pool and during the days when it was 106 degrees, we all brought our jamming chairs around the pool and jammed with our feet in the cool water (and boy, did it feel GOOD!).
I got some chores done around the house, and read a little, and dh and I just finished the Jamkazam jam. Dinner is next, then probably more reading.
Have a good evening!

I ALSO cannot get to 'help' or Admin; Or, rather, I can GET there, and--- I can type in the message to them ---- but there is NO WHERE to go after that. No box to click on to send it along. WTH?
Try another browser. You probably have a pop up blocker that is hiding elements on the page if you are't seeing the green buttons.

Hi Dianah
NJ22 thanks for the pictures. Hope your sister improves
Stars sounds like a productive day. That's a long time to wait for an ultrasound
Yesterday was busier than expected at work. Still managed to leave on time. After work was quiet, exercised then stopped at the library
Today will likely be a busy work day, have 2 people out. J and I have decided to meet Sun instead of today, he was feeling rather tired yesterday because of the heat
Feeling anxious this morning for some reason. Some days it seems all it takes in a minor trigger for the anxiety to start
Going to be cooler today, in the mid 80s, rain is possible
